USians as a culture are inherently racist (sorry if you aren’t but that’s how it’s viewed), especially to allies like Mexico. I’d also suggest voters are to blame here. The “go back normal” Biden vote was to pretend that Trump was an aberration and not symptomatic of bigger problems. We needed someone capable of strong response and change as well as good at communicating those things with the public. Biden was not that.
