i'm so excited freshwater isopods are starting to be seen in the aquarium hobby!
i remember trying to find a hobby breeder or any information on keeping these guys years ago and found almost nothing, but now i'm starting to see more people intentionally add them to their tanks :)

Today, my first large paper on Colorado Scarabaeoidea was published by Insecta Mundi covering 28 species, with several new state records. It is the first in a series of papers covering distribution, phenology and ecology of Colorado scarabaeoid beetles.

Chaunacops are one of the neater fish I've seen on the seafloor. I wonder if the skin feels rubbery or slimy? This one deflates itself. Their side profile is hilarious, so I put a video of that ⬇️. #SchmidtOcean dive 639 #SEPacificSeamounts #MarineLife

Giant clam declared critically endangered after CU Boulder assessment Once abundant, the massive, colorful clam is now locally extinct in many regions, with a critical drop in population due to overfishing and climate change.

In all the years I have been watching divestreams (roughly 10 yrs) I have never seen a heterpod/sea elephant. This pelagic snail was massive, about 30cm. The vestigial shell is at the bottom, modified foot sticking out like a fin from the side, & a proboscis snout. #natiluslive #marinelife #palau

The Satinfin Shiner (Cyprinella analostana) is a true minnow native to NY south to SC. While many people call any small fish "minnows", that is often inaccurate because not every small fish is related. However, shiners are considered true minnows belonging to the Family Leuciscidae (1/5) πŸŸπŸ™πŸ¦ˆπŸ‹πŸ§ͺ🐑🐠

Scientists discover world’s largest coralβ€”so big it can be seen from space Exclusive photos reveal a sprawling, 300-year-old coral near Solomon Islands, recently discovered by the National Geographic Society’s Pristine Seas expedition team.

Move over, blue whale. This 300+ year old 34m coral is now the largest animal* known. Hopefully its depth, as described, can keep it going πŸ¦‘πŸ§ͺ
