It's great to see this work finally out! @newphyt.bsky.social
Here we showed that auxin production after fertilization is a conserved, paternal-triggered mechanism for seed initiation in angiosperms.
@plantreproevo
Interested in the evolutionary processes shaping genomes and plant reproduction. Excited about bringing more heart and less mind to how we do science. Hosted by the Dpt of Botany, @sciencecharles.bsky.social.

Big congratulations Mohammad, you nailed it! 👏🏻
I am opening my presentation of the PhD defense.
I am discussing one of toughest questions I received from my reviewer Professor John Pannell
Phd is done! 5 years of dedication and support from @plantreproevo.bsky.social @rosischmickl.bsky.social & AntonínMacháč paid off. With a great discussion with my opponents; Proffessor John Pannell(University of Lausanne) and František Zedek(Masaryk University). Thank you everyone, seen and unseen.

Do you want to do a Masters in Evolutionary Biology? The call for applying to the MEME program is now open! MEME is a fantastic 2-year MSc between four European Universities on all areas of Evolutionary Biology. Apply and study in Sweden/France/the Netherlands/Germany/USA/Switzerland! www.evobio.eu
Hybridization and introgression are major evolutionary processes. Since the 1940s, the prevailing view has been that they shape plants far more than animals. In our new study (www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
), we find the opposite: animals exchange genes more, and for longer, than plants
Thank you to Marcus Koch and Marek Svitok for their work (not on bsky)!
Our last work is out! led by @mjavad1991.bsky.social as first author and another smooth collaboration with @rosischmickl.bsky.social! We explore the evolution of male (pollen) and female (ovule) investment in Brassicaceae, if you're curious on the answers, it's 👇

Running a test on the DAFNEE database will only take a few minutes of your time. It's a must-do. 👇
quite a tempting offer, thank you for sharing it! I cannot find the offer in Galaxie/Odyssee, do you know if it's not published yet or something?
In #GENETICS, @spicybotrytis.bsky.social, @jrossibarra.bsky.social, & colleagues identified sites under positive selection, estimated the timing of gene & locus divergence, and discovered a siRNA-mediated mechanism of silencing the reproductive barrier in #maize.🌽

Interested in the evolution of molecular interactions ? We are recruiting a new PhD student with a background in proteomics to study the diversification of the receptor-ligand interaction controlling plant self-incompatibility.

Did you know plants can change sex expression within a single generation, and reversibly at that?🌱 What else but #epigenetics might play a role in this? 🧬 Read more in the new study published at @camphilsoc.bsky.social's Biological Reviews ⬇️

Just wrapped up an amazing time at #EMPSEB30. A truly unique event by PhD students, for PhD students packed with insightful talks and outstanding networking with future colleagues. If you’re a PhD student in evo-bio, this is the meeting you don’t want to miss! #EMPSEB30 #EvolutionaryBiology
You did! and I'm quite amazed by the continued motivation from students to keep this event going. Tens indeed!
If bottom-up approaches still needed evidence they work, #EMPSEB30 gave it. A warm atmosphere, sustainability prize, engaging DEI session, emotional workshops, alternative presentations, so many out-of-the-box things. Altogether with a really high scientific quality. Thank you @empseb30.bsky.social!
And that’s a wrap! #EMPSEB30 comes to an end in the same friendly way in which it started🙌🏽 A huge thank you to the organisers for a flawless conference and for the phenomenal final show! 🕺🏻💃🏻@empseb30.bsky.social
EMPSEB30 officially kicked off at 3 p.m. today 📯, and it's already going great! We had three incredible workshops/ excursion, led by some fantastic instructors. A huge thank you to Filip Kolář, Libor Štěpánek and @plantreproevo.bsky.social !

#EMPSEB30 efforts towards more sustainable conferences in action!
@empseb30.bsky.social
Giving embodiment woskhops for #EMPSEB30! We're quite well treated and the program is quite exciting!
Happy this is out! A fun (for me) topic to reflect on: the sexual continuum in plants, the roles of epigenetics in that, and evolutionary consequences. A collaboration with Marek Slovak, Eliska Krtilova and @irissammarco.bsky.social !

Thank you, I'm glad to read that :)
Thank you Anne! :) and thank you for welcoming Nelida in your lab, the feedback she got there were really important to improve the manuscript :)
Hello BlueSky! Super excited that this work is out thanks to a great team work with Nélida Padilla-Garcia as lead author!
We looked at what shaped the purging and fixation of TEs in populations across Arabidopsis lyrata species range. Short answer: the usual suspects, but also genomic imprinting!
