๐๏ธ We concentrated on the area by the burn & in front of the cafe, there is a lot more by the slipway at the caravan end & we will inquire with the council to see if there is scope for bobcat assistance to remove some of these larger items

We will continue to do smaller cleans with schools, community groups and local businesses in the coming weeks to tackle this.
๐ค An enormous thanks again to all of you who came along today, and to the individuals and other environmental groups that have been carrying out their own cleans too!
๐๏ธ The beach is looking so much better now, there are still small plastics trapped amongst dune grass and under the driftwood (which will hopefully be uplifted by the council soon - they also did a cracking job today uplifting everything we collected).
๐คฉ WOW!! What an incredible effort by all of the volunteers who came along to the beach clean today in Aberdeen!
๐ฎ Around 200 people (so many people joined it was hard to keep track!), removed 165 bags of rubbish alongside ropes, nets, creels etc!
โ๏ธ All of this weighed in at a whopping 1.4 tonnes!!
Rosa brings a fantastic skills set with her & weโre sure will be a great asset to our small EGCP team!

However we still got a decent haul of litter, from large sheets of plastic, to ropes and nets, a ripple wrapper (best before May 1986) and a lager can (best before Jan 1988)!!!

Conditions were a little challenging with the snowfall right before we were about to start!
๐ง๏ธ They came prepared for the weather and realised with a bit of resilience and practical planning you can achieve whatever you put your mind too!
Thatโs 81KGs less rubbish along that stretch of coast now, thanks to the pupils from Bucksburn Academy! ๐
๐ Yesterday we were joined by another group of students from Bucksburn Academy to tackle the litter along the Don Estuary in Aberdeen.
๐ They all did really well, getting stuck into the task which formed part of their โWaste to Wavesโ Project.

๐ Itโs hard to believe that we did a huge clean-up here just TWELVE DAYS AGO!!!!! And yes, thereโs STILL lots to do, onwards and upwards!

๐ง๏ธ It was rainy & windy but that didnโt stop them, they even managed to move a massive tractor tyre - not an easy task when full of sand - they showed great teamwork!
๐ค We look forward to working with this group next week & to developing a long term partnership with the Social Subjects Department!

Operations manager Kamil, reached out to us for some advice recently and explained that as a company they were keen to do what they could to improve the beach environment! They now plan to conduct regular cleans!
