The latest Bluesky update has made it impossible to type in ALT text for users who require large text.
So low vision users can’t provide image details for blind and low vision users.
It’s almost as if Bluesky wants me to leave.
He's the nephew of the AG in the NT. He got home detention for killing a man with his car on purpose then bragging about it and seriously injuring another man. They were both Aboriginal and it was a hate crime.
We should be taxing the fuckers into the ground.

When Trump stops his illegal attack on Iran, it won't be because:
- 'strategic objectives' have been met, or
- too many have died, or
- Iranians are finally 'free'.
It will be because the markets are tanking, and his billionaire associates are worried about their wealth.
So looking forward to this but unfortunately none of my kids are interested so I’ll be going alone. Kids these days 🙄
Ok, I know this makes me That Guy, but audiobooks are a brilliant step between reading books and watching movies, that can allow you to enjoy the complexity and depth of the written story while also keeping up the pace and reduced wear on your attention span. Highly recommend for this especially.
FAQ Friday What is the Broken Arm Theory?
The broken arm theory or ‘syndrome’ describes a common experience faced by some marginalised groups in medical settings. It occurs when medical professionals let personal stigma or bias shape the questions they ask or how they treat their patients. The broken arm theory originated within the transgender rights community, to describe the medical misattribution and invasive questioning that many trans and gender diverse people experience within general healthcare from medical professionals. The theory extends beyond gender, LGBTQIA+, and sex work discrimination also affecting other marginalised groups. It can be based on factors such as disability, weight, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic status, drug use, and more.
How does the Broken Arm Theory show up for sex workers? Picture this: You’re a sex worker and you walk into a clinic with a broken arm from a sporting accident. Instead of having the presenting symptom (your broken arm) be the focus of the appointment, somehow the doctor’s attention seems to be on your work. For example, the doctor might assume the injury is from a client.
While in some instances, healthcare providers may focus on sex work in a way that feels outwardly hostile, the Broken Arm Theory can also show up in pathologising or voyeuristic ways. I had cold and flu symptoms and went to a new GP. Once I disclosed my sex worker status, she asked irrelevant questions about my job and became focused on STI tests. I just had to sack a very sweet mental health professional... they were too interested in my life as a sex worker and our sessions were more discussing my history and stuff like that than about helping me.* *Treloar, C., Stardust, Z., Cama, E., & Kim, J. (2020). Rethinking the relationship between sex work, mental health and stigma: a qualitative study of sex workers in Australia. Social Science & Medicine, 113468.
Have you ever had a health care professional's stigma and bias impact your healthcare? You may have experienced the Broken Arm Theory.

Australian media isn’t covering this but what’s happening in Cuba is dreadful. Trump signed an executive order cutting off Cuba’s last oil supply. Ten million people are paying with their lives. Sewage systems are failing, food is rationed, it’s getting worse.

Last year when I was checking into a hotel, the desk person was wearing Meta glasses. I kindly asked them to take them off. They were annoyed. I said, “I do not consent to you looking at my credit card and ID with Meta glasses on.” My instincts were correct: www.bbc.com/news/article...
Single frame. PM Albo and Penny Wong in Albo’s office sitting at coffee table, looking exhausted, Albo holding a beer. Portrait of John Howard on wall. Albo’s desk and shelves behind showing photo of him with Trump, football, rabbit, plaque saying “Social Cohesion”. Albo says, “Remember Saddam’s WMDs?” Wong says, “Good times.”

Left can't resist being on wrong side of a war Whether it's Jeremy Corbyn or Zack Polanski, their foreign policy stances terrify voters outside core supporters
Well, here’s the thing about being antiwar as an ethical belief: it means you end up opposing most wars. Almost all of them, in fact. This is quite common in people who have consistent beliefs but looks insane to people who have none, or mostly just believe superior people should make the decisions.
Kanwal Sibal @KanwalSibal • 6h X The Iranian ship will not be where it was if we had not invited it to talk part in our Milan exercise. We were the hosts. I am told that as per protocol for this exercise ships cannot carry any ammunition. It was defenceless. The Iranian naval personnel had paraded before our president. The attack by the US submarine was premeditated as the US was aware of the Iranian ship's presence in the exercise to which the US navy was invited but withdrew from participation at the last minute, presumably with this operation in mind. The US has ignored India's sensitivities as the ship was in these waters because of India's invitation. We are far from politically or militarily responsible for the US attack. Our"responsibility" is at a moral and human plane. A word of condolence by the Indian Navy ( after political clearance) at the loss of lives of those who were our invitees and saluted our president would be in order.
