My dad, who was an active duty Marine for over 30 years, had similar observation as you (esp. when he was stationed at Parris Island). Every grad, no matter their place of birth, was, & always is, a Marine. Semper Fi! (And everyone who becomes a citizen is our fellow brothers and sisters.)
The most emotional part of my son’s graduation from USMC basic training was the naturalization ceremony for the new Marines
