The third and final Galvatron patent is for his light and sounds gimmick. Invented by Kohjin Ohno. Filed 1985-10-29. JPS6274870U
Another Galvatron patent was filed 1985-10-29. It is specifically for the arm transformation. Invented by Kohjin Ohno. JPS6274869U
Galvatron patent continued (2/2)
Patent for Galvatron. Invented by Kohjin Ohno. Filed 1985-10-28. JPS62101276A (1/2)
Filed 1986-02-28 as well, this auto transforming car robot (perhaps Sideswipe?) was probably a companion piece to the jet. Invented by Takashi Matsuda. JPS62201175A
I know right! I will not run out of content to post about for years... Another interesting thing about this patent is it's pretty close to the Throttlebot transformation, except backwards! I just now noticed that :-)
An early predecessor to the Throttlebots. At this time, the idea was the pull back motor went at different speeds in vehicle mode versus robot mode. Invented by Takashi Matsuda. Filed 1985-08-30. JPS6249882A
Patent for an unreleased Transformer that automatically transforms when it hears specific tones from a musical keyboard. Invented by Mitsuru Higashida. Filed 1985-09-30 (JPS6274386A, JPS6256082U, JPS6256081U) and 1985-10-29 (JPS6274882U)
Another unreleased Transformer with an auto transformation gimmick. Invented by Takashi Matsuda. Filed 1985-08-30. JPS6239786U
Yokoyama continued to iterate on his pump launcher Transformer and created this more mechanical launcher that launches the car forward instead of backward. Filed 1985-11-30. JPS6292889U JPS62129083A JPS6292893U
(Also not sure if his given name is "Kei" or "Takashi". I have used both in my posts previously.)
Yokoyama's pumpformers didn't end there. He is also the inventor on these patents for a Transformer that launches backward when you hit a pump, and then auto-transforms as it launches! Filed 1985-09-30. JPS6279077A JPS6256083U
There are not many of the unreleased kind. Mostly they are just tons of Japanese design patents, which are photographs of final or near final toys. I'm hoping to post everything eventually, but there's just a lot to sift through.

After Takashi Matsuda worked on the Battlechargers, he created a similar auto transforming jet robot. It was never released. Filed 1986-02-28. JPS62142395U
Patents for the Battlechargers! Around this time, about 20 different auto-transformation gimmicks were patented by Takara, but only the Battlechargers were actually released. Filed 1985-10-31. Invented by Takashi Matsuda (JPS6274881U, JPS62102785A) and Hideaki Yoke (JPS62102785A)
A second "Little People"-style Transformers patent from Takashi Yokoyama was filed 1985-11-28. Instead of turning into a vehicle, it's a chef that transforms into an entire kitchen!! JPS62127088A
If the First Transformers / Boku No Transformer line had continued, what would have come next? Takashi Yokoyama's next patent was for Little People-style toys that transform into vehicles! Filed 1985-11-30. JPS62129074A
This patent for a "First Transformers" toy is a truck robot with two different attachments: a bucket lift and a shovel. Each attachment transforms into its own robot! Perhaps a bit too complicated for a toddler and was never released. Invented by Takashi Yokoyama. 1985-09-30. JPS6256076U
Dump Truck aka Dump-Kun was the final entry in the short "First Transformers" / "Boku No Transformer" line for toddlers. Invented by Takashi Yokoyama. Filed 1985-10-12. JPS6264594U
Race Car aka Racer-Kun was another entry in the short "First Transformers" / "Boku No Transformer" line for toddlers. Like the Airplane robot, he was invented by Takashi Yokoyama and his patent was filed 1985-09-30. JPS6256074U
While we typically associate 1986 with the release of the movie and post-movie characters, it was also the year Hasbro and Takara released the short-lived "First Transformers" / "Boku No Transformer" line for Toddlers. Airplane bot by Takashi Yokoyama. Filed 1985-09-30. JPS6256074U
Patent for an unreleased Transformer that changed into a jet by rotating like a 2x2 Rubik's Cube. Filed 1985-12-30. Invented by Kohjin Ohno. JPS62159685A
Whoops, it's "Takashi Yokoyama", not "Takashi Yokohama"!
Patent for yet another early Battlechargers-style Transformer. Filed 1985-06-28, four months before the actual Battlechargers. In this iteration, the top of the car opens down the middle to reveal the robot's torso. Invented by Takashi Yokoyama. JPS622984A
The prototype shown in the patent differs slightly from the concept artwork, which shows a gun mode instead of a base mode. JPS62284680A (2/2)
This patent for an unused six changer was filed 1986-05-31, one month before Six Shot's patent, so probably intended for a 1987 release as well. It was invented by Kohjin Ohno and has dino, car, jet, drill, robot and base modes. (1/2)
Why stop at separating into 2 robots? In this patent for another unproduced Transformer, the car separates into 3 robots, with one of them becoming the engine. Invented by Takashi Yokohama. Filed 1985-09-30. JPS6279079A
