Her stated purpose for marrying him was that he came from a rich family back home, and would "help us out" in the end. I've verified that his last name is a very well-known one in Jordan... but he only used her so he could stay in the US...
Another story... She and my dad divorced when I was about 10ish. My mom, very soon after, married a man from Jordan. He moved several members of his family and his "girlfriend" into our house.
Since then, so many things have popped up and made me wonder if her whole life was a con, a series of manipulations (everyone in life's purpose was to further her life).

When I asked this person how she died, she wouldn't answer, only telling me she had "taught my mom how to read scripture and pray" over the last months of her life. Weird, because she raised me as a very conservative Baptist (kinda. we church-hopped quite a bit, which is another part of the mystery)
Late at night a few years back, I got a message on FB mssgr letting me know my mom's "funeral" would be at 10am the next morning. I didn't know she had passed, but apparently it had happened approx 30 days prior.
My mom died a few years back. I hadn't had a relationship with her for years. I've come to a vague belief that she spent her life as a con artist. I have thought investigating this would be a fun podcast, but would have no idea how/where to start (and what if she wasn't a con artist... just a user?)
