The event today at North Main and Ygnacio Valley makes me concerned about the next three events along North Main/Contra Costa Boulevard. It's a hella busy corridor. Pedestrians with the walk sign are going to be competing for space with vehicles in backed-up turn lanes.

At one Hell Night staff tried unsuccessfully to dissuade an elderly diner from ordering the Pasta From Hell. The man mopped his brow and finished the pasta, the owner came out of the kitchen and shook his hand. Turns out the elderly diner learned to love 🌶️ as a military man in Asia.
And was it the 1369 Coffee House that used to have little flags you could put at your table to indicate whether you wanted to chat with other coffee drinkers or not? This goes back years, and pre-dates the era when we all began staring at our phones.
The East Coast Grill in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They'd have periodic Hell Nights with extra-hot but deliciously prepared food, you had to sign a waiver to order the Pasta From Hell. Overwhelmed diners could request The Antidote and they'd blare a siren and bring you a creamsicle on a plate.

A cluster (bouquet?) of tightly packed mushrooms on my lawn, about 16 inches across and 8 inches high, consisting of many round flat beige caps with brown dots in the center. Five stalks can be seen on the left with smaller (younger?) spotted caps. It would make a great headdress for an actor on The Last of Us.
