I'm unsure how people really think people were downplaying a virus that can kill you, make you go blind, wipe out your immune system for years, and oh yeah come back and kill you a decade after you thought you'd shaken it.
It should be a much bigger story that oil prices surged because of Trump’s illegal war in Iran, forcing the White House to ease sanctions on Russian oil—only for Russia to take that money and help Iran target American troops.

Tomorrow marks the 61st anniversary of Bloody Sunday in Selma, Alabama. It also marks the 60th anniversary of the Supreme Court first upholding the Voting Rights Act.
We have gotten so, so far away from a Court that cares about democracy.

The prospect of Trump rejecting the ebulliently vicious Paxton—a man who has positioned himself as Trump’s man in Texas for a decade—in favor of Cornyn and his slightly less obsequious support of the MAGA agenda is itself sublime. But feast on this: Trump would also be turning his back on the one man in the country as hungry to turn an election into a revenge tour as he was. Cornyn is a cardboard box filled with Senate Leadership PAC money. Paxton is a feral raccoon with nothing to lose. He may not have as much cash on hand as Cornyn, but he has even fewer scruples and a history of bleeding opponents out over long campaigns. What’s more, a Trump endorsement of Cornyn means that both Paxton and Cornyn own Trump, for better or for worse. Who has “worse” on their bingo card? I have “worse.”

Another reason for President Donald Trump’s obsessive interest with Minnesota became clear on Friday. “I feel that I won Minnesota,” Trump said today during a meeting with oil executives at the White House. “I think I won it all three times.” That, however, is not true. He lost Minnesota to Hillary Clinton in 2016, Joe Biden in 2020 and Kamala Harris in 2024. Minnesota could be called the reddest blue state in the United States, one that the Democratic presidential nominee hasn’t lost since 1972, but those wins have frequently been at close margins. From his first presidential campaign a decade ago, Trump’s aides told him that Minnesota was within his grasp. He aggressively fought to win the state, but failed all three times, according to the certified vote tallies. In his race with Clinton, he fell short 1.5% or more than 44,500 votes. Four years later, he lost to Biden by 7% or more than 233,000 votes. And in his contest with Harris, he lost by 4% or more than 130,000 votes.
