Aaaaand after. I do not look like a squirrel.

Writer. White-knuckle knitter. Superannuated Pre-Raphaelite stunner. Punk- and Goth-adjacent. Coming June 2026: The Circus, the Garden (and Mario Lanza), from Aqueduct Press. My novel, Damned Pretty Things, is available now. I like perfume.
The author with cooper curls.
Aaaaand after. I do not look like a squirrel.
I bet with the small mom and pop gas stations that used to exist.
I don't remember that part.
I look like the Tin Man's wife.
Gas lines ahoy?
Author with truly terrible haircut and deep red hair sitting in a salon
Author with layers of aluminum foil in haaaaar.
Getting my haaaaar did. Before (special fright-wig edition) and during.
Ha!
A charismatic woman I once loved told me that this was *my* song. I believed it to be true. Who was I to argue? Out of habit, two million years later, I still believe it. Funny how that works.
Happy birthday to Gary Numan, and thanks for all the stories.
How beautiful. I can almost smell them.
What is the globe?
I am pretty sure I've used it before, so I don't know what my problem is.
Imagine having the moolah, not to mention the kitchen space, to own seasonal Le Creuset. This post courtesy of an email I just got.
But, but Obamaโs tan suit. ๐
She is the best.
I don't really understand my own aversion to it.
As opposed to the time-honored tradition of outsourcing it to their clerical staff.
Bitter? Me?
7 inches of a knitted purple sleeve with loops. Live stitches on five double point needles.
Sleeve #1: our story so far: I am getting the hang of these dpns. Now they're less nerve-wracking and more boring (because I can't just whip along as I do with cable needles.)
Oh Lord. I just got the Numan/Oldman joke. But it's technically true, too.
Nothing really to do with age at all.
Thanks!
- do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish
This Easter, choose compassion: adopt, don't shop! Every year around this time, rabbits are purchased on impulse as gifts for children, seen as seasonal accessories or living toys. But rabbits are not low-maintenance pets, and many of them are later surrendered to shelters or abandoned outdoors.
I was wide awake at 3:50 this morning, which is okay because it was really 4:50....
(Argh.)
I'm grateful for her.
Though it could as easily be "Calcutta" by Lawrence Welk.
Juuuuuuuust kidding
"I Fall to Pieces" by Patsy Cline.
I'm sorry your keys are hiding from you.
Today:
On the one hand, I made a pretty fabulous matar paneer.
On the other hand, I destroyed the pink sweater trying to take off one of the sleeves.
A satisfying idea.
