Would be amazing if we could get some non-Minnesotan neighbors plugged in here. Minnesotans have majorly overextended themselves paying their neighbor's rents and we know there is more capacity to chip in from outside the state.
no other game lets you break every bone in your body for money falling down a dam to London Dungeon... every other video game falling short smh
yeah that about covers it

We've got way more need than donors today and eviction notices are starting to arrive. Can you sign a form to pay a rent directly or can you venmo us so our team of volunteers can pay more rents?!π»
People are still trapped in their homes in my neighborhood here in Jason's ward, unable to go to work (at jobs which may not even exist anymore), sick with worry over how theyβll pay utilities and remain housed.
It's not over. ICE is still here, and the least we can do is afford families more time.
βThe Northside isn't getting the same light,β Smith said. βAs far as ICE activity, we're also not getting the same level of support, and we're having to do that all on our own, without a network of bigger things supporting us.β

Thought I could really use some bugs so I added some bugs π₯°
For FLOOD Magazine, I reviewed the latest from Maria BC, an album lucid and billowing in its sketches of post-industrial life, even in its most abstracted imagery
"As the filmβs main trio embarks on an aimless, violent, gleefully profane road trip across America, the sexual element of their exploits is kept strictly straight."
"A growing homoeroticism blooms between Jordan and Xavier, but remains subtextual, unconsummated. It is only when that tension is closest to breaking that the movieβs tone flips entirely, as if Araki is suggesting that no such affection can come to pass in a vehemently 'heterosexual' space without being ruthlessly stamped out."
"In its harrowing climax, The Doom Generation proves itself to be as transgressive and rebellious of a statement as anything else Araki made, no less potent as a Trojan horse for righteous fury at the country that failed its queer public."
"Though largely only available censored or in low fidelity since its original theatrical release, this new restoration of Arakiβs cult classic fully renews the garish splendor and unflinching extremes at the filmβs core, one that has found resonance with generations of queer misfits over the past 30 years."
Hoping this is the first of many screenings of its kind in this new era for the Heights, and YOU can help by grabbing tickets and making it clear that there's a demand for stuff like this regularly in the Twin Cities
This is a big first for me and a passion project, hope to see some of you there <3
"A trailblazer in New Queer Cinema, Gregg Araki burst into an independent scene already known for subversion and carved out a distinct identity as a boundary-pushing, hyper-stylized voice for queer Gen X outcasts."
"His early films are unflinching glimpses at the realities of '90s gay lifeβangsty and freewheeling, fierce and hilarious, angry and shocking and melancholic, often turning on a dime when the brutal truths of oppression come crashing in."
"After The Living End and Totally F***ked Up established Arakiβs place in underground queer cinema, he released The Doom Generation as βa heterosexual movie,β cheekily positioning it as an inversion of his previous work."
"In actuality, The Doom Generation is yet another layer to Arakiβs kaleidoscopic Teenage Apocalypse trilogy, a queer awakening narrative punctuated by obliteration."
Had a lot of fun being asked to provide writing and graphics on one of my favorite New Queer Cinema cult classics, and even more excited to get to play a part in screening it for a local crowd!

once again reminding everyone to funnel your emotions into organizing and building solidarity in your community and not pointless doomscrolling
Community defense is different here. Scary. Lonely. There's (some) safety in numbers, and they're hard to come by in our red exurban and rural communities.
We're standing up anyway.
So, today's front page print headline seemed quite fitting:
Emotion, defiance as ICE roams western WI
FUCK ICE.
ICE has not left Minneapolis. Our neighbors are still being taken by masked secret police.
hey many ppl sheltering in place due to ICE in MN are going to be even more in the hole after tomorrow due to rent. ICE leaving was a lie, we kicked their incel chud asses in the street so bad that they're just being more secret about it.
Please donate to these groups to help my neighbors
As transgender Kansans grapple with a challenging new reality today, and the rest of the nation watches whatβs happening in the Sunflower State, hereβs a thread of @kansasreflector.com stories and opinion pieces about SB 244. (1/15) #ksleg #trans #lgbtq
I encourage you all to donate to a national or red-state LGBTQIA+ organization this week. Even a $10 donation, from all 3,100 of y'all following me, would make a $31,000 donation, which makes a HUGE difference.
If you have the means, please donate to the Trans Continental Pipeline right now. They are a Colorado based org that helps trans people relocate and they are overwhelmed with requests. Colorado borders Kansas, and TCP has the infrastructure to help get people out.

This is a Nazi move. Stripping people of rights, invalidating their IDs, setting them up for criminalization and imprisonment.
If you don't support trans rights, you support fascism.
Now on the Heights website: program notes from me on THE DOOM GENERATION
Itβs not just Medicaid funding theyβre withholding to MN. Itβs food assistance, child care assistance, social services, job training, safety testing, public health, disaster relief. SNAP. Free lunch for kids in school.
They hate us for loving our neighbors, and are collectively punishing us for it.

Will hopefully have more to share soon about this screening, but whether you're new to Araki or already a fan of his idiosyncratically profane, angry, unapologetic queer filmmaking... I really hope you'll grab tickets to this and show up for the local scene playing cool offbeat queer films like this
