Reading Sunday: This week I'm probably going to finish Beautiful Things and then probably start the second book, as well as continue reading Enshittification and Ancillary Mercy. And probably start Whack Job for the Morbidly Curious Book Club.

Do you make a TBR each month or are you a mood reader?

It's only when you can't have dairy that you really appreciate all the things that have it in them. Luckily it's only a short term thing for me.

I need to know what programs/websites all these internet sleuths are using. How do they find so much about someone with only a name? (Seriously admire that effort)

"If you are being kidnapped off the streets by a masked secret police & whisked around to transit camps to avoid any legal attempt to help you, if you don't know when you're getting out, if you have a chance of being killed in the facility & no one will know where you are or what happened to you..."

I wish I could join you
In watching
The game that you like
but
It is slow
And it is confusing.

They have to play a band
in the middle
So the people who love it
won’t just go home.

Painting of a woman looking out a window at a snowy scene. Words to the left of the woman read "Once the weather gets warmer, I'll be unstoppable. Unless it gets too warm. Then I'll be stoppable again."

The moment I had money, I bought it. Even though I own many of them already on Kindle. It's nice to have copies I know aren't controlled by Bezos.

Both are great but Stiff has more levity than Mindhunter, if you're needing that after Midnight in Chernobyl.

In the midst of all the horrors, a fire last week claimed my niece’s family’s home in St Paul, including their 3 cats and her mom’s prosthetic limb. Her dad is in the ICU with a brain bleed. It’s not safe for them to leave their temporary housing. Please help if you can.

Thank you, I hadn't heard of this book before, but I just put it on hold at the library. More light these days is very welcome.

β€œThey avoided one another's faces, for fear of what they might see mirrored there. Each man thought: one of the others is bound to say something soon, some protest, and then I'll murmur agreement, not actually say anything, I'm not stupid as that, but definitely murmur very firmly, so that the others will be in no doubt that I thoroughly disapprove, because at a time like this it behooves all decent men to nearly stand up and be almost heard...
No one said anything. The cowards, thought each man.”

BREAKING: Senate Republicans just blocked the clean ACA tax credit extension that the House passed to save millions of people thousands of dollars each.

If you’re paying double or even triple for health insurance, blame Trump and the Senate GOP.

"in 2026 DO NOT ask yourself whether your art is GOOD

instead ask:

- Is it SINCERE
- is it CATHARTIC
- was it FUN TO MAKE
- is it MADE BY ME

and don't forget to stay silly"

Me: *yearns to be taken care of*

Also me:

β€œI don’t need help”
β€œI handled it already”
β€œIt didn’t occur to me to ask”
β€œI’ll just do it myself”

People in my book clubs use Pango. You set your prices and the website calculates shipping and stuff. But you're basically holding onto the book until it sells, so if you're trying to downsize quickly it might not be as helpful as used bookstores.
