I am hoping that “search action” becomes the genre name. Still calling them “meteoidvanias” is almost as annoying as every dodge combat game being called a “soulslike”

These games have many branches now, ones that focus more on combat, more on movement, more on puzzles, etc

Second this for sure. These games were fun and successors such as the fan-made OSU can’t completely replicate what it feels like to play the iNiS DS rhythm games

(Also Trauma Center was THE game for both DS and Wii that made me appreciate motion controls)
