YES. YEAH. like... if critique is to be given the same consideration as other art, which im already granting, then it needs to justify its time spent to the same degree, right? good critique imho demands as much time as the piece was "worth" to you-- so if its really that bad, I SHOULDNT WASTE TIME
he starts shaking like a dryer with a brick inside when he's told the awful thing he just said. not a real human; next.
and you know what happens every time? someone i love gets their feelings hurt, AND chances are i just wasted an incisive piece of ammo that would serve an actual purpose if i had honed it for a more measured piece and thought more carefully about what i was spitting venom at
as someone who is sooo up my butt about critique As Art, and also really enjoys meeting new people, i have to learn to be very careful about to Whom and Where i direct vitriol. when i mess up, its always because i forgot my target and my thesis for a second and engaged "uselessly queeny" mode
i like my little sister but i dont know if shes the castle or the cats living in it
cute girls that i made in second life
real. daily thought. after sitting with "there is a visual language of who is Ugly and Why, and what's more, it perpetuates how people are treated in real life! and we cant REALLY divorce cartooning from this" for enough time, i go "ENOUGH!" and have to make something as shapeless as possible

One is entitled to ask: Can a grown-up person be content with what people think of themselves, without comparing it with what they do? Is it possible for a Marxist not to distinguish good wishes and declarations from objective realities?
No. It is not.
i am sore, and i can tell that not all the stuff i need in my noggin is there today. there is some fluid in head and back. maybe weather has plans for me. but i like being here today. i used to wonder if it would still be "worth it" if pain hadnt left in adulthood. happy the answer is yes
i wish even the vague sentiment of "love your body" wasnt so easily twisted into a political cudgel out the gate, to mean anything about changing or not changing your body to meet the whims of someone else. i value my body and health, "selfishly", because i value the time i get to experience life
i like activities that let me sit in my body and figure out what it is thinking. i love that being a large mammal means playing the slow game. when my thoughts take a long time to form, it feels nice to remember electricity had to cross a physical distance to make it happen
i like living an awful lot and i orient my life around making that possible except for when i get a little confused. then i remember
And it is obvious, too, that white conservatives have invested heavily in surveillance & violence to prevent targeted populations from having a means of defending themselves. That was legit the initial priority of the First Klan in 1865.
Worth adding here that the FBI waited *years* to declare open war on the Black Panther Party, assassinating & incarcerating its leaders en masse. The thing that tipped the balance wasn't the guns, but the free breakfasts, groceries, & clinics that represented a genuine threat to state power.
grins slowly and shakes head and clinks glass which by the way is just plain-ass water

also, i know it's a pretty standard american cartoonist thing to rib french artists for how horny they are, but... cartoons are horny! ive got a soft spot for how candidly they tackle sex and death in their entertainment arts. we're really weird and convoluted about those here
they seem to subsidize their arts extremely well! they value cartooning as a trade and a skill, from what ive seen-- theyve got passion for what they do, but the french approach of "work to live" instead of the american "live to work" is something that bleeds into their toons, and i really love it.
Too often I think we view misogyny through the lens of womenβs responsibilityβdo women cause misogyny, how can women avoid misogyny, how can we blame women, alwaysβinstead of recognizing that there is literally no way to opt out of or avoid misogyny entirely, because our whole society is built on it

doodles of a toony blue human guy in glasses hanging out with his scary wetware spaceship wife. on the left they're having a jovial chat with no dialogue shown. on the right, cece (ship) is dangling clayton (dude) by the foot and holding him close to a "monitor" serving more as an eye. he clears his throat and says "hi, honeybun". she says "hi sweetie. just wanted a look at you". he says "right. well. i'm-- i'm getting dizzy, cece" and she says "of course". he sits with it for a second and says "honey,"

abstract piece of nearly flat-colored shapes against a dark purple background, with a lavender thread snaking from top to bottom, starting in top left and ending on the bottom left. from top to bottom, the shapes are: a pinkish oval; a lavender inverted teardrop shape; an orange gumdrop shape; a yellow inverted triangle; a green boomerang; a teal rectangle; a pale blue irregular polygon that juts outward slightly like a 7; a violet rhombus; a white three-pronged half circle, like a cartoon sun; a small, deep blue rounded "L" shape; a rounded grey "T" shape; a magenta blob; and a round, light chartreuse shape like an inverted T.
