Two gold hoop earrings with sculptural details - each has Eros riding a dove, a bird sacred to Aphrodite. The birds' wings, tail feathers and the down on their heads, as well as the wings of the Erotes are accentuated with beaded wire arranged in circles and long loops. Greek, Hellenistic, 3rd century BCE. Met Museum, New York (1995.539.9a, b)
These delicate, highly detailed gold hoop earrings depict winged Erotes riding doves. The dove, of course, was a sacred bird of Aphrodite (mother of Eros), symbolizing love, beauty, and fertility. 🏺 #ancientbluesky 1/

My photo shows part of a limestone wall panel carved in bas relief from the Fifth Dynasty mortuary temple of king Userkaf at Saqqara, Old Kingdom, 2465-2458 BC. It shows a Hoopoe, a crested bird with black and white wing pattern, and an ibis, with long curved beak, amongst papyrus plants in the marshes of the river Nile. My photo was taken in 2022 at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
Lovely naturalistic relief of a Hoopoe and Ibis, carved by an Egyptian artisan some 4,500 years ago!

A scene made entirely by hand, these polymer clay sculptures depict a miniature Kirby in Ninja form, surrounded by the Cherry Blossom Cake in it's final form. This battle will not be easily won, at least not without a tall glass of milk.
Surrounded by enemies, Kirby has no choice but to fight his way through this one 🫣
Joyeux anniversaire à toi !

“This stunning necklace was discovered at a site known as Vani, which is located in Georgia (the country, not the state). Ancient Vani once served as the religious and administrative center for the Kingdom of Colchis; as I've previously discussed, Colchis was also known as the homeland of the fabled Golden Fleece, and the Colchians themselves were famous for their skills in goldsmithing. The turtle pendants on this necklace are all decorated with ornate filigree and granulation patterns. The eyes of the 30 smaller turtles were originally made with glass inlay, while the eyes of the largest turtle (seen in the center) were made from drops of gold.” “This necklace is unique because of the zoomorphic depiction that it presents. Among the known examples of goldsmithing from antiquity, the depiction of a turtle is not attested anywhere other than the Vani necklace. The local origin of the necklace is primarily indicated by the stylistic unity of the pendants with other examples of Colchian goldsmithing. It should be noted that the land turtle depicted on the pendants was widespread in Colchis.”

Merci beaucoup=)
