Just to be absolutely clear, anything I post on here today is displacement activity for the fact that I am watching all my money go up in flames.

Good explanation of the cluster fuck that is America at the moment nymag.com/intelligence...
When they start charging commission or putting ads in it will be worth a ton, but then hard to know if you can trust it if the incentives behind the recommendations are hidden
The amount of e-commerce that is going to be generated through AI is huge. I've already asked Claude, gpt etc. to make me tables and summaries for what I want in a given product and it feels like the opinions are unbiased (even if not 100% accurate)
Made a list of upcoming Hyrox and Hybrid fitness events in the UK - adding more every day, get in touch if you want one added! #buildinpublic

The substack app is both good and terrible - feels very much where we're at with apps in 2025. It is nice and slick and has generally good UI but is also so restrictive.
I can't see the last article I read, and when open the app up again the feed refreshes
I've been downloading way more new apps recently after barely touching the app store for what felt like a few years - feels good to try new things, AI is shaking everything up
Deepseek feels like wallstreetbets and GameStop, sticking it to the man. Even if the little guy is a Chinese hedge fund
Given deepseek is doing so well, and none of the big AI companies are public, going to short $NVDA as proxy today
I think/hope we're going to resist just going to a few trillion dollar companies to get all our information from, and will instead go back to our own favourites, not what algorithms tell us to like
Theory: twitter isn't going to be replaced like for like (by either bluesky or threads), but is going to fragment into smaller into smaller, more focused social networks
e.g. letterboxd for films
This is such a rich thing person to say. Homeless people have all the time in the world, not exactly helping them is it
Freetrade selling for Β£160m having raised money at Β£650m+ in 2021. Of course it is the retail investors who took the most risk that will do the worst
Current ideas I am pursuing:
1. App to track how many push ups you do each day
2. App to track your baby's growth and give you specific percentiles
3. A personalised bedtime story for your child
4. A hyrox poster memento of your result and the course
Fun to have more than one on the go!
Don't let competition stop you from starting. How many categories have just one business - none! So just because you can find something else similar to your idea doesn't mean it's not worth pursuing anyway
If an AI image is 95% of what you want, how do you iterate on that final 5% without starting from scratch each time?
The lack of reproducibility seems a big shortcoming of the current models?
Had an idea to make a personalised children's book, but AI image generators seem really bad at consistent styles.
All these LLMs in general seem to always want to start from scratch each time rather than iterating on what you're telling them.
Very cool!
#buildinpublic just made an incredibly basic app to track push ups in flutter thanks to Claude. Fun to experiment and iterate
I'm realising doing is literally the most important thing. Doesn't matter if the idea already exists - just get something out there to then make something better afterwards. Repeat.
Had forgotten the joys of needing to install A to install B which requires C which needs A.
All these AI advancements and dev setup is still a massive pain
I'm semi-technical (a (bad) former web developer, turned product manager), so will also use this as a testbed for Claude and GPT and how much they can help me build this as my first app
So a digital red book with periodic reminders and specific percentiles for your child could be helpful to ensure growth is on track
Finally got an idea for an app I want to build: baby and child growth tracker. Going to keep it as simple as possible and make that its USP.
In the UK we have the "red book" for all things baby related, and it is most used for the height and weight charts, but these are easy to forget
#startupidea subscription management for SME's who'll negotiate savings down for you. Does that already exist?
Exploring startup ideas. Looking for remote personal trainers to speak to about billing and client retention if anyone could point me in the right direction?
Getting the itch again to build something but trying to avoid the mistake of jumping straight into solutions and focus more on problems
(Not "what do people need", more "what annoys people" and go from there). Far easier to brainstorm this way!
