So weβre skipping Presidents Day this year, right?
So weβre skipping Presidents Day this year, right?
The last four days have been my most productive writing days in months. Really struggled to hit my daily goal of 2-3k for awhile, couldnβt get into a good flow for the life of me. Imposter Syndrome didnβt help. Since Thursday though, Iβve put down 21,000 words. And most of them donβt suck!
You sure he wasnβt hiding in a sewer drain?
Serious question: With Costco saying theyβre gonna stick to their DEI policies, how long until the Costco Guys announce they wonβt be eating there anymore for βhealth reasonsβ?
Writing tip: Why do the hard work of finishing your novel when you can simply issue a blizzard of executive orders declaring it's done and forcing everyone to buy it?
I could live to be a hundred and Iβll never spell βconvenienceβ right the first time. π€¦π»ββοΈ
Friday Writer Thoughts:
Don't let others dictate what you should, or should not, be writing about.
Don't chase trends.
Write what inspires you.
Remember that comparison is the thief of joy.
Remember that your journey is yours alone and no one else's.
Youβre the man, Gabino!
A fearsome, but childish, monster hunter fights to save the soul of a town that time forgot from a doomsday preacher with questionable motives and a suspicious origin in what Online Book Club called βa perfectly executed balance between horror and comedyβ!

Point is Iβm havin a great time. Plus the world is burning like a tractor tire, so thatβs cool.
But that damn book was supposed be my big project for the year, other than the rewrites on the current draft of Cyrus Stone 2. So now Iβm sitting here like π€·π»ββοΈ. Going through my notes to try and find an idea I can execute in time to have out this year while still being able to finish Cyrus.
So I wrote a book that was supposed to be out this year. My publisher was expecting a manuscript next month. But then the real world decided to be an asshole and perfectly mimic the end of said book in a way thatβs forced us to shelve it indefinitely. Itβs the right move, Iβm not mad about it.
Robert Eggers not getting a Best Director nomination is a god damn travesty.
We all know what we saw. Any other interpretation means you are a bootlicking, toady Nazi.
Well, America, we had a good run. I mean, mostly. Okay, not entirely. *flips through a history book* You know what, forget I said anything.
Stay calm today, everyone. Donβt give him any more excuses to be cruel beyond the ones heβs already made up. Remember, a new hope will emerge.
I knew one day Iβd have to watch powerful men burn the world down β I just didnβt expect them to be such losers
Can a headline alone be eligible for a Pulitzer?
If only we had a robust system of local businesses and free public institutions, where readers could browse and speak with professionals, perhaps called "booksellers" and "librarians"! If only publishers supported them with the same fervor they have for... individual artists doing their own promo?
Why is the new Wolf Man bald? He doesnβt look like a wolf man, he looks like a guy who thinks heβs a wolf. Heβs a Wolf Guy. Guy Wolf?
If you see people losing everything to a fire and you celebrate because you donβt like their state, youβre a garbage human.
Writing is an act of rebellion.
Writing is an act of creation.
Writing is an act of salvation.
Writing is an act of exploration.
Writing is an act of emotion.
Writing is an act of confession.
Writing is an act of speculation.
Writing is an act of reflection.
Keep writing.
Hopefully sooner than later!
Thatβs my thinking too!
That too!
I usually beat the story out into bullet points. Each one becomes a chapter, sometimes two depending on length.
#HorrorWritersChat Anyone else ever get nervous or anxious when writing the scary scenes? Like a weird sense of impending doom because you know whatβs coming? I usually take it as a good thing.
I really looked forward to The Off the Book episodes this year! Such a solid way shake it up while expanding and shining a light on the community. Also @sgj.bsky.social always. The two of you need a spinoff.
I tried with Threads. I really did. Scrolling that timeline is what going insane feels like.
