It’s perfection. I am also flabbergasted as to how in the world one figures this out.
Was it a sudden realization while looking in the mirror? Or did she frown at something while at the bar with friends and one of them clocked it and said “hold up, make that face again?”

I grew up in Oregon. This plan to clear cut Oregon's old growth forests is terrible in multiple ways. This article gives info on the situation and also where/how you can submit a comment to the BLM. Comment period closes March 23.

Singular standup Chris Fleming shown doing his usual acrobatics on stage.
I’m watching the special right now and just thought “I wonder if anyone in Bsky is talking about Chris Fleming”, so I searched and your post was the first result.
At that exact moment, on my screen, Chris goes “I see Terry Gross!” and launches into that chunk.
GREAT special.

A perfectly cogent explanation that is demolished by the 65,536 revolting, shirtless images that blessed all of our timelines this week courtesy of the sinewy fuck atop HHS.

Brought to you by the same grievance machine that cherishes the signifiers of “protecting women’s sports”, i.e. trans panic, while historically and eternally giving zero shits whatsoever about women’s sports except as the butt of misogynistic jokes.

IIRC she also mentions that slot/vp machines were originally intentionally placed way off to the side near the stairs/elevators to keep the male gamblers’ wives distracted, spending money, and (most importantly) away from their gambling husbands while they played the table games. 🙄

You come away from the book with the sense that yes, women are *also* compelled by capitalistic brain chemical poison to light money on fire, but it’s more “tired service worker mashing buttons, too ashamed to give her last name” than it is “Tom Brady dancing & crowing about his Kalshi prop bets”.

play,” said one father of a troubled teen. In the 1980s, as machine gamblers began to present themselves for addiction treatment, clinicians and researchers noted that their narratives of withdrawal from the world of human relations departed from those of the competitive, status- seeking men depicted in Goffman’s Where the Action Is, Henry Lesieur’s now- classic 1977 study, The Chase, and other psychological and sociological literature on gambling addicts.19 When Lesieur began to study machine addicts, most of them were women. Their accounts led him to hypothesize a gendered split between “action gambling” and what he called “escape gambling”: men were action gamblers who preferred live games (cards, horse races, and commodities trading) while women were escape gamblers who preferred machines; men sought sociability, competition, and ego enhancement while women sought isolation and anonymity; men were after thrill, excitement, and sensation while women wished to dull their feelings, escape distressing problems, and relieve themselves of the burden of excessive interpersonal interaction.20 Lesieur relaxed the gender assumption of the action- escape split when
In Natasha Schüll’s book Addiction By Design, she draws on research positing a gendered distinction btwn “action gambling” (men) and “escape gambling” (women), which fits neatly with gender norms. She ties this “feminine” preference for escapism to the explosion in video poker/slots since the ‘80s.

I don’t think she deserves a statue or anything but standing up and saying all of this in court might also be exactly what other regime functionaries—who lack the power to have speaking engagements on Fox—need to see to inspire them to make whatever amends are possible on their sinking ship.

Whatever consequences hopefully await everyone involved, if she already submitted her resignation and is truly using every minute remaining in the job to ensure her team complies w/the release orders against the wishes of Noem/Trump, that’s the epitome of “it’s never too late to do the right thing”.

I did put in my resignation from the job too, but
they couldn't find a replacement. So I gave them a specific
time and -- to get it done. If they don't, then by all
mean, I'm going to walk out. And before I walk out, I was
able to release another individual, a juvenile. That kind
of like a step -- like a barrier. Like, Wait, Julie, stop.
You need to go back and get more people out. That's why I'm
still here. I am here just trying to make sure that the
agency understand how important it is to comply with all the
court orders, which they have not done in the past or
currently.
I am here as a bridge and a liaison between the
one that in jail, because if I walk out -- sometime I wish
you would just hold me in contempt, Your Honor, so that I
can have a full 24 hours of sleep. I work days and night

just because people still in there.
And, yes, procedure in place right now sucks. I'm
trying to fix it. As you can see the e-mail that I sent to
you, it has been improving, a great improvement.
And last night I had to stay up until 2:35 a.m.
just to get this documents ready for you. It's a -- I can't
say it's a waste of my time, but I could have sent so many
more e-mail and get so many more people get ready to be
released. And I am here with you, Your Honor. What do you
want me to do? The system sucks. This job sucks. And I am
trying every breath that I have so that I can get you what
you need.
THE COURT: All right. So I hear your
frustrations and comments about the job. My question is:
Are you expressing those to the others who are --
MS. LE: I do.
I have no sympathy for collaborators with the regime, but in case it helps any of the “she should just resign” crowd, here’s the part of the transcript where she told the judge she did resign already and is only staying on the job to ensure the release of as many detainees as possible.

That’s truly this whole administration, this blundering kakistocracy in a nutshell… it would’ve been SO EASY to just keep both gloves on and accomplish the same thing without drawing attention to it.

We took the overnight Venice<>Vienna train 2 summers ago in a sleeper cabin. The train/service were very hospitable, but they also had the ventilation off for most of the trip, unfortunate on a warm July night. 🥵
Still a fun experience but I might at least opt for daytime views if I did it again.
