My favorite film, full stop.
@greyduck
Just a little grey duck in a big grey world. He/him. (Not to be mistaken for ho/hum.) If I have a "main topic" it's the game #Satisfactory. My main textual output is (or should be, if I'm behaving myself) over at my not-a-blog: https://greyduck.net
My favorite film, full stop.
For serious. My main problem I need to find someone to buy those Oreos and then let me have, like, half of one.
Can you even count them on the fingers of more than just one hand?
Uggggh. 50% complete beats 0% complete, BUT.
Oh. Oh my. Yes. Yes, please and thank you.
I wish I could thank the schoolteacher who spent a few class sessions showing us Silent Running when I was in middle school. It rewired parts of my brain for the better.
I've sadly lost quite a few subscribers since moving my newsletter from Substack, so I would greatly appreciate it if you signed up now that it's on Ghost.
Horses, outfit, camera, crew, set, etc: A couple mil.
Grift money pocketed by she and her friends/benefactors: The other couple hundred mil.
Isnβt it funny how every headline isnβt about how unaffordable ground chuck is the way we had to hear about eggs every single day?
Hm. What could be the difference?
The Bebop adaptation *should* have worked, and with better planning and writing it probably would've worked.
Champloo though. HOW? The style and the substance are woven together too tightly, I can't imagine a live-action-y attempt doing anything beyond landing with a dull thud unless they go HARD.
The trailer for EVERYONE IS LYING TO YOU FOR MONEY. In select theaters starting April 17th πΏπ€π€£
And he's making a lot of them a lot of money.
I have so many questions.
I want the answers to precisely zero of them.
One of the most iconic weirdos (affectionate) in all film.
If you haven't yet, watch Oscar (yes, the Stallone comedy vehicle, no, the *other* Stallone comedy vehicle, the actually good one). His Dr. Poole is *superb*.
Satisfactory video game screenshot: On a viewing area walkway overlooking the Rocky Desert, three Pioneers pose for a photo shoot. The leftmost is saluting toward the right of frame, the center is curled up as if for a nap, and the rightmost is waving, sort of, vaguely.
In the end-of-session photo shoot only one of us truly expressed how we're all feeling at this point in The Year Of Our Glorb Twenty Twenty Six. (Hint: It's the one collapsed in a heap on the walkway.)
I frikkin' love this game.
More building stuff! More power! More logistics! And so on! Come watch us if you wanna. #Satisfactory

This is a key point, honestly: Everything they "know" about the world they learned from mass-market fiction (movies and TV). They think those shows *are* an accurate representation of reality.
Isn't it fun when you finally achieve the thing that's had you at peak excitement levels for [long time period] and the *instant* you prove you can do the thing, your brain goes "Welp, done now."
FUN.
Oh, right, what's this going to do to Monday game times?
Hey, it's a good day to have a birthday*! I hope yours is/was a good one.
(* - Ask me how I know!)
Aw, thanks!
Damnation.
Oooh, Northern Forest start. Rich resources, *awful* terrain. π Good luck and Happy Pioneering!

For some reason I enjoy TotalXclipse's videos despite every single one of them highlighting my shortcomings relative to his abilities (and willingness to put in a *lot* more time/effort).
Oh gods all my stuff is so profoundly *mid*. Not horribly inefficient but not highly efficient either. Not ugly as sin but not gorgeous either. I'm the most average player ever to perch atop the bell curve.
I've yet to beat the game post-1.0, and I regret (a bit) doing a restart... but my first 1.0 save was a hot mess and would've taken ages to un-bugger. So here I am.
I'm curious about the "new game mode(s)," possibly including resource node shuffling, in 1.2. New map will probably be DLC some year.
