Anyway here's how it played in the press last time anything went this far, just for reference

it’s bad and it’s gotten exponentially worse in the past 6 months. if you write anything involving deep research/old books/forgotten periodicals you’re probably noticing β€œwiki creep,” because it’s one of the few resources left standing. the internet as an archive is disappearing, has disappeared.

Just so happen to be in the middle of watching twin peaks with my husbandβ€”he’s never seen it before. It’s remarkable the impact it has for both of us; with new eyes and old it is strange and moving and brilliant and will remain so. RIP ❀️

I’ve been trying to read an essay on Bookforum’s site for a few days now but the site appears to be down β€” hoping it’s a temporary issue, not sure I can take it if the magazine is in trouble again

Day 12: a surprise scent, to me a warm, sweet rose with a slightly artificial note like plastic and candy β€” not a Christmas-y scent but it was perfect for Christmas, reminiscent of opening presents on a cozy morning. Feels like the beginning of Fanny and Alexander or the nutcracker’s party scene

Day 11: Carnival of Souls β€” creamy and smoky, a bit floral in the background and something almost like exhaust fumes or a metallic finish. Like a crash scene. Maybe my favorite so far

Day 10: Maggie the Cat is Alive, I’m Alive! β€” bottomless bellinis and powdery violet, but with a sharp, earthy quality, like a glamorous, old-fashioned lady drowning her sorrows on the verandah of her enormous, empty house on a hot summer day

Missed a couple days due to travel, so playing catch-up now! Day 9: Violette Hay β€” an earthy, almost savory violet, herbal and leathery but light and airy. 100% a horse girl scent but sexy.

Day 8: Annabel’s Birthday Cake β€” it smells like cake! From the grocery store or a box, NOT from scratch. Sweet and bright, but also something plastic-y, making it more interesting. A bit like red lipstick? Reminds me of the mall or a perfectly made-up woman leaning over to blow out birthday candles.

Day 7: Petrichor β€” fresh, green, powdery, mossy, earthy. The front yard at my parents’ house is all moss and rocks and a few lady slippers under evergreens and I always thought it looked like a fairytale; this smells like that

Day 6: Dream Sequence β€” a green, dewy, lilac, kind of old-fashioned and nostalgic for summer storms. Didn’t last long on me
