Writer Pete McTighe described a scene from 'The War Between the Land and the Sea' which never made it from script draft to filming.

Janet Fielding:
"There's a great story about Russell T Davies and Peter [Davison]. Somebody got killed or something in one of the new stories and Peter was complaining that his sons had been upset by it. Russell T said to him, 'What do you care? You killed Adric.'" ~ DWM
Steven Moffat:
"'Now Dad, I don't want to write children's television. I want to write serious theatre!', said the future showrunner of Doctor Who."

Would appear this Australian fan from 2004 is ALSO the one who first introduced RTD to his fellow Australian #DoctorWho fan, a writer... named Pete McTighe: :-o
Alex Kingston to Prima Magazine:
"Before Jodie Whittaker was announced as Doctor Who, there were a lot of rumours about my character, River Song, being the Doctor. In the 'Whoniverse', you can make anything a reality, but I like being the character of River Song."
My choice of photo to illustrate Sharon D Carke's statement could have been better. How about this one:
Sharon D Clarke on claims a female Doctor deprives young boys of a positive male role model:

Interesting that Ricky Gervais criticizes celebrities and television personalities for using award shows as platforms for political speeches. That's exactly what Russell T Davies does whenever he picks up an award anywhere.
Steven Moffat:
"I think, to this day, nobody, child or adult, needs to get their moral lessons from people who work in television. I am totally with Ricky Gervais on that one. Shut up you media tossers! You don't know a thing."

Well, Tegan was quite gobby, as they say.
She and Davison have this rolling dis-fest going.
It's all part of her schtick.

McTighe's more recent scolding reaction is in stark contrast with Russell T Davies, who welcomed the enthusiastic fan and even gave him information about future filming.
It would appear that he feels his current position twenty years later entitles him to gatekeep.
As it stands now, the 2026 Christmas special is entirely funded by BBC Studios. It can't see a way foreign distribution won't be a deciding factor in subsequent series. The BBC won't discount the global popularity of Doctor Who.
It depends on whether they keep their stock after taking their windfall. Stock can decrease in value when a merger is not profitable.
A fan video from 2004 Doctor Who filming seemingly confirms a persistent rumor that a dangerous stunt occurred.

Yes, their stock just went up.
I remember those days with fondness - especially when it was BBC Worldwide Showcase. The screenings, the props on display, the soirees, the appearance of the latest Doctor actor. Not to mention the 2013 scandal, ha ha!
I think the piecemeal deal days are over. The double whammy of Covid and streamers has made what's left of BBC Studios Showcase obsolete. Remember the big convention in Liverpool in February where BBC studios wined and dined potential buyers? That's been subsumed into a larger film festival.
Paramount is taking a huge risk spending $31/share plus covering Warner Bros.' buyout and severance obligations.
I really wonder of what use it is to choose a parent company that could go bankrupt from the various ways it scrounged up the money for the purchase.
This is not to say that the BBC will choose Paramount/Warner Bros. but they probably want to know what's going on with the streamer before they begin talks.
It's anybody's guess with what streamer Doctor Who will end up but I can't imagine the BBC not wanting that international audience.
With the long, drawn-out battle between Paramount and Netflix for Warner Bros. nearly over with Paramount the apparent "victor", It's no wonder that the BBC Drama director said talks about a streamer for Doctor Who haven't yet begun. The BBC is likely waiting for the dust to settle.
Murray Gold gave an update on future Doctor Who soundtrack releases.
