Our Democratic Party sux at getting out the vote. Even in fairly liberal El Paso I see very little in the way of mobilizing and making sure registered voters follow through and get to the polls.

A little background. I’m 69; married my high school sweetheart, spent 23 years in uniform, and am twice retired. I have voted in every general election since turning 18 and only skipped primaries before the internet because it was almost impossible to get good information when overseas.

Gerrymandering hurts with local races; not state-wide. There is no reason US Senator, Governor, LT Governor, etc. races aren't more competitive. The Democratic Party has given up on vast swaths of the state, something Beto tried to turn around when he visited every county in the run up to his race.
