Beta 5 is here with some big updates: Lists tab and Outstanding Tasks got a major overhaul and Subtasks are here (after a lot of convincing). It's still early days for subtasks, please share your feedback and Happy Valentines!

- Fixed an intermittent crash on macOS
- Fixed “Ignore events” to also match non-titled events if left empty
- Changed Cmd+N to create new Task instead of open new window
- Tapping on map locations in Daily now presents a menu, with ability to Share the location
- Fixes to improve iCloud sync frequency for some users, let me know how you find it
- Fixed capitalization on Copy Tasks menu item
- Improved task entry toolbar for macOS
- Fixed editing journal entries on macOS
- Fixed Journal “Copy to clipboard” button on macOS
- Fixed new tasks in Lists in Minimal theme getting date assigned
- Fixed widget in some configurations not showing Date correctly
- Added Location field for calendar events

A few fixes and improvements:
- Calendars and Reminder lists are now grouped by account they belong to; you’ll see the change in hopefully every field that shows calendars and reminder lists
- Fixed a bug that sometimes added daily tasks to recently used list

You can actually delete the folder, just not iCloud data (if you go to iOS Settings, under iCloud). These are not visible to Files app
Congrats and thank you! 🙏 The license is attached to your iCloud data internally, so it syncs with your data and follows you around. If you ever need AppleID entitlement for some reason (lets say you want to delete your iCloud data and start fresh) just email me.

I’m kind of blown away by how robust and thoughtful Finalist is. It’s not a web app with iOS and Mac clients. It’s a suite of native apps designed with care for Apple’s platforms. Auteur software, with a distinctive brand and vision, while remaining idiomatically native.
I'm still digging out from under the deluge of wonderful feedback this holiday season (at least I don't have to deal with snow this year). If you haven't seen it, @gruber.foo wrote about Finalist, and explained it far better than I ever could. Lots more to come in 2026!

The Problem With the “Family Calendar” And then, about a year and a half ago, I came across Finalist. The app has matured a lot since then and has become more beautiful (than it was), and, miracle, they added exactly the features I needed! Now I can: 1. Mark my vacation in one color. 2. Wife's vacation/child's holiday (insert as appropriate) - in another. 3. See the full picture instantly! You can also add things like "red zones" - days when travel is most expensive (school breaks, holidays). Now you always know when it’s best to plan a vacation and which dates to avoid.
