I did see the Hives but they were headlining. Weird thing was at the time there was an odd atmosphere because it had been put about by the press that they were a manufactured band 'Who is Randy Fitzimmons?'. I knew it was Niklas's nom de plume but lots of local musicians turned up to sneer

It's weird because I always think of Pawn Hearts and Godbluff as double albums. They're not but they just feel like it. I had PH on CD first then picked up a vinyl copy and actually thought "where's the other disc?". Oh, of course, silly me
I have yes. Godbluff was the second album I bought, love the way the songs - once they hit that VDGG groove - could continue indefinitely.

The transatlantic perspective is always a bit weird because it plays to a British audience who remember differently. I watched the Punk series on Prime at Xmas and the first episodes were great but then from the mid 80s it switched to the US as if nothing punk or punk-like occurred in the UK therein

Lenny Kaye's Nuggets introduced the soulful garage rock of Barry Tashian and The Remains to a new generation of fuzz fanatics. The band were also one of the support acts for the final Beatles concert at Candlestick Park
