I played it once and it felt like a boardgame autobattler to me. I didn't hate it but I definitely don't understand the hype.

Had a blast playing @magpiegames.bsky.social ' Zombie World at Tupps Brewery in McKinney TX over the weekend! Told a very Last of Us adjacent story as we struggled against the Zombies and Seraphs in Suburban Seattle.

Fabula Ultima does bright fantasy well, as well as Ryuutama. Also Ultraviolet Grasslands has a whole different take on bright fantasy.

Chasing the Perfect TTRPG Chase I've been playing in a weekly campaign of Outgunned: Adventure: a pulp adventure tabletop RPG set between the World Wars. It's a good time, lots of punching Nazis and driving old cars, and one of its main mechanics that unites it with the 80s action movie base game Outgunned is the Chase mechanic. The Chase mechanic boils down to the speed you're traveling at (go too slow, quarry gets away), and a clock (when you fill it, you catch them).

Let's talk Chases in Tabletop RPGs, and how they made me disappointed enough to throw my own design ideas into the ring.

My Year in the Dark (2025 Forged in the Dark Recap) In the year 2025, my regular weekly Wednesday night campaign group committed ourselves to run campaigns of Forged in the Dark games for the entirety of 2025. Scared Silly at BGG Con Fall – November 2025 A tabletop gaming convention centered around board games put on by the folks who run . Incidentally, they also own tabletop.events which is currently my favorite site to help with the logistical elements of running a convention. The convention had about 3100 attendees, though most of the gaming and programming was directly board game related. The group I'm part of, Forward RPG, were invited to send 6 GMs to run tabletop RPGs through the weekend.

My jaunt in the wilderness for Naturecon – November 2025 A tabletop gaming and friend convention at Lake Bistineau State Park in Doyline, LA, happening November 8 thru 11, 2024 NatureCon is a convention for which I’m responsible for all things events and sleeping arrangements. It started as a friendcon where we’d go out to a state park and play tabletop games, and it’s grown in a great way into the event we run today, which is about 50 folks reuniting once a year to get some gaming in.
