π How people think and feel about energy, including the shift to renewables: climateoutreach.org/btc/2025/rep...
π Great news: the UKβs emissions fell to their lowest level in 150 years last year, with coal use roughly halving.
π£ We also saw record-breaking generation from renewable sources, especially wind & solar.

πΏ Brits people want to see strong and ambitious leadership to protect our natural environment. Weβve signed an open letter to the PM to express our concern that the Government is failing to provide international leadership on nature recovery.

π‘In Scotland, more people take pride in the offshore wind industry than in the North Sea oil and gas industry.
Our insights show that:
π‘ 44% of people say that the Scottish Government should oppose Westminster in ending new offshore drilling licenses in the North Sea.
π‘People think itβs the sign of a strong leader to take on businesses that pollute the environment.
Scottish Labour MP Chris Murray said: βWith the North Seaβs oil supply dwindling, Scotlandβs energy sector must transition to clean energy, or workers risk being left behind.β
More than 60 MPs and elected officials in Scotland have signed Upliftβs pledge against the development of the Rosebank oil field, many from the Labour party.

To lower bills in the long-term and support a fairer future, letβs celebrate & adopt clean energy at a faster pace.
π How to talk about energy: climateoutreach.org/btc/2025/too...
π More on the price cap announcement from End Fuel Poverty Coalition: www.endfuelpoverty.org.uk/about-fuel-p...
π‘Alongside a widespread backing for clean energy, people are more likely to think it will cost them than save them money if we scrap plans to tackle climate change. However, we canβt promise people that a transition towards clean energy in the home will save them money instantly.
π‘People across the UK back clean energy. Only 1 in 10 of us donβt like seeing solar panels on roofs. Just 15% of us donβt like seeing wind turbines, and 74% of people that intend to Conservative or Reform either like or donβt mind seeing them.
π’ Todayβs price cap announcement from Ofgem means the average energy bill in the UK will fall by Β£117 between April-June.
Whilst this is positive progress, bills will remain Β£599 above pre-energy crisis levels.
A faster transition to renewables will play a key role in further driving down bills.
Renewables chart a clear path to cheaper and cleaner energy. How we talk about this transition has the power to shift both the narrative and our overreliance on fossil fuels.
Hereβs what we recommend:
π£ Show that people support a move towards clean energy, away from fossil fuels.
βοΈ Inspire a better future, without trashing the past.
π₯ Incorporate the views of people in Scotland
ππ’ The Governmentβs decision on licensing the highly contentious Rosebank oil field is expected soon.
How should we frame the debate - based on how people across the UK think about fossil fuels, and renewables as an alternative?

Channel 4 spoke to Matt Winning, comedian & climate scientist, who is doing a run at Soho Theatre of his show about fatherhood & climate change.
π₯ Matt says βClimate change is about people. The way we talk about it, the way itβs communicated, is always so far away from peopleβs day to day lives.β
π‘We know from our latest research that people want to see more climate content in entertainment. We also know Brits are more likely to trust people who are down to earth and know their stuff on climate.
