When teams are trusted with a meaningful outcome, given the freedom to decide how to achieve it, properly supported, and allowed to become a real team - performance stops being something you manage and starts being something that emerges.
It really is that simple.

We launched the Community of Practice on 9 February 2024 with a simple idea: create a space where people who care about better delivery, collaboration and innovation could learn together, share openly and raise the bar for how we work.

Onboarding is more than Admin. Itβs a Leadership Choice.
The first few weeks in a new role, team, or context shape confidence, trust, and momentum. Fast access to tools, platforms, and information isnβt a perk. It sets expectations about how quickly someone can become effective and how supported they feel along the way.
β±οΈ When access is slow or context is missing, friction appears quickly. Uncertainty and anxiety are common, especially when joining a new team and trying to understand how things really work. Energy gets spent navigating the system rather than learning within it.
π§ This is where Developer Experience and Employee Experience meet. Thoughtful onboarding removes friction and provides context. Not just what tools exist, but why they exist and how work flows. That context helps people sense-make and begin to navigate with confidence.
π³ Leadership means investing in capability. Capabilities shouldnβt be built only when theyβre urgently needed. They need to be created, cultivated, and maintained - in a constant state of readiness for use and deployment. Like an effective runbook, an effective onboarding pack needs to pass the 3 AM test.
π§ That often means prioritising investment in resources, material, and experience over the latest urgent priority. The former creates a system that mitigates exceptions. The latter just reacts to them.
π Done well, this reduces overall lead time to productivity. People move faster because they know what question to ask next and where to go for answers.
Good onboarding sets people up to succeed.
Itβs 'Team Craft'. And itβs not a Project - itβs Ops.
Onboarding isnβt Admin - itβs a Leadership Choice. The first weeks shape trust, confidence and momentum. Fast access and clear context reduce friction and anxiety, speeding time to productivity. Good onboarding is #TeamCraft. And it's not a Project - it's Ops. #Onboarding #Leadership #DevEx
