I think that the dark mat works better than would a white mat.

I will never forget the day my father proudly showed us his new Lebarron station wagon. He grabbed the handle to open the door (to show us the wonderful Corinthian leather seats). The front door handle came off in his hand. That was a preview of the rest of the life of that car.

100% true in this house. The latest from our menace is that he will hide on some furniture (table, couch) and rise up to smack anyone who walks by. Our third cat is an inside-outside cat who generally prefers to hide from the boy cats inside.

Up in Maine, upgrading a bunch of cabins.

We have to have 2 cat fountains - one cat does not like plastic, and one does not like stainless steel. Also, a ceramic bowl for when the old cat asks for ice cubes in his water. They are not spoiled at all.

I forgot to note that I dragged my 4x5 to the valley for that trip. I did get to the Ansel Adams gallery, and I still have the photo I purchased hanging on my wall...25 years later.

I will forever hold a grudge against that valley for the time I took a week of vacation time to travel there in February to shoot the valley in beautiful winter conditions (such as in your shot). When I arrived, there was no snow and either completely gray or clear skies.

I assume that you also check eBay for used eqpt.? I've purchased several lenses for my Pentax 645Z system on eBay and I have no complaints. You just need to pick a seller with a good track record.

I think that the increase in contrast and subtle loss of detail actually works quite well for this image.

FWIW, I think that it does look a bit too high.
