I think the writers for OPLA just don't understand the tone of the original series. I think the goofiness in the manga works because it's juxtaposed by the serious moments; but i can't take those same scenes seriously in OPLA due to the barrage of cringey one-liners and terribly unnatural speech

I'm 4 episodes into OPLA season 2 now and my opinion is pretty much: there's a lot of really great stuff going on here, but the dialogue is so insufferably cheesy that it genuinely makes me not want to keep watching, this is 4kids dub level of poor

i actually want to give a double shoutout to Julia Rehwald for her incredible performance as Tashigi, so far she is the only character that i like more in the live action than i do in the original anime/manga, she portrays her autistic loser nerd-ness soooo well it's phenomenal

my live action one piece opinion is that the acting quality gets better the less important the characters are; i really dislike luffy's portrayal, the rest of the straw hats are fine, side characters like buggy or smoker are a bit better and then nobodies like tashigi and koby are great
