Well I think I'm done fussing with the studio desktop for now. It's not perfect. The touchscreen isn't usable. But it's still a significant improvement over windows 11. Eventually I might tinker with it some more (or just replace it) but I mostly just want to get back to work at this point
Well Ubuntu Studio is running on my desktop but have some weird display issues to work out. I should be unsurprised that the Surface Studio continues to be a headache. Taking a break to actually make some music.

Got Ubuntu Studio installed on my old zbook with a demo of bitwig and drivenbymoss. it's better than my controller's native integration with ableton or reaper. I don't do a ton of work in the daw but this is so smooth that could change. Now to get my actual studio desktop switched over. 😬
Been having similar thoughts recently. It's been *checks watch* decades since I've done any real work on a Linux box though so I may just take an old laptop and start getting a feel for the current distributions before making the leap
It gets a lot of flak, but I'm a fan of my prophet rev2 in large part because of that (though it's only bi-timbral).

I decided to limit myself to only working with the field recording (no synth or drum sounds other than those I could extract). A girl’s “pronto” is probably my favourite bit, but also a Welsh woman going on about something “in the fooking boot” as she walked past the mic was helpful 😂
