I want to do another shoutout-to-an-indie-game-I-streamed, with POLYARMORY
If you like dating sims with voice acting, queer rep, hilarious levels of overt horny writing, and some light FPS arena shooting; this was great. And ENTIRELY FREE!

Yo, is that our resident dommy mommy on PC Gamer also?! Let's go @polyarmorygame.bsky.social!
Holy heck! It's so wild to see Polyarmory compared to these amazing games. Thank you @joshuawolens.bsky.social for this incredible honour!

You're a bunker buddy and birthday buddy too!
Glad you enjoyed it!
If you are or know anybody who might be interested in writing a story on a silly game about dating your guns (and so much more!) make yourself known
We're struggling to get press coverage for @polyarmorygame.bsky.social right now.
The main reason we've found for this is that all the contacts we've been hitting up for articles have been laid off.
I love this world and the systems we've built for ourselves.
Gosh. 97% positive steam reviews for Polyarmory so far.
People really resonated with this giant shitpost, huh?

Very reassuring!
I swear I'm not gaslighting you XD
I was tempted to ask if your new editor would support AI and now I think I can guess the answer XD
I think the transparency got eaten, here's the transparent ones

Bonza!
Oh and here's a peek at the sheets version, which had the advantage of dropdowns for moods
And here's the apps script we used for a few utilities, and exporting the gdoc to a single plaintext yarn doc.

Do you want to see any of the runtime yarn refresh code? It's kinda hacky but did the trick
docs.google.com/document/d/1...
Hopefully that's a viewer only link! It's a slightly outdated script, content wise. We're mostly using Unity to pick nodes to play, so it's a lot of isolated nodes. LMK if you have Qs, comments, tips!
That said, periodically syncing our narrative doc with our game repo wasn't the worst chore. We only stopped bc docs made it hard to spot whitespace errors, and editing directly in git was just easier once the bulk of writing was already done.
I could see a version of that working where we use subrepos to isolate the scripts and let the writers opaquely commit in their own space.
Woah that looks fab. One of our requirements was multiple non technical writers in the same project without needing some external version control git etc to keep in sync.
Another is loads of custom commands, which generic runners don't usually like.
Oh wow what a read! We actually started out in sheets but it was more comfy for the writers to work in docs. I'll have to revisit this article for my next project and checkout the new stuff in yarn spinner 3
I'm so sorry about all the work you had to do cutting out the logo!
Oh yeah I added some tools to fetch from Google Docs at runtime, but we mosty just exported from gdocs into a flat text file.
A warning other developers, don't use google docs for yarn. It likes to replace your whitespace and special characters and mess up your dialogue trees!
I'm so sorry for what we've done to your dialogue system
Thank you for making it so easy to extend!
This is one of those few jokes that's funnier when you explain it
Could you reuse the customisation pips? Or steal from spyro and keep health totally visual bsky.app/profile/heyt...
I'm surprised it wasn't already eaten up by Fortnite
Have you ever wanted to date your guns?
No?
Well, let's change that immediately, shall we? π
