deirdre spending time with a friend. they can't help but be distracted by the 'limited edition' chainsaw-wielding figurine on the side table near them.
deirdre, presumably in their own home, gazing lovingly upon their figurine collection on a shelf. their friend's chainsaw-wielding figurine is among them; an arrow points to the collection along with the label 'all stolen π€'.

Hi, beginner webdev here. What does it mean to compress images, and how do you recommend doing so?
Huuuuge mood π€
Tbh it's not surprising. Not only are dissociative disorders kinda built to not attract attention to protect you, but also people are very good at only noticing what fits the narrative they've already constructed π€·ββοΈ

b&w comic page that reads: [Sometimes I see enough improvement in my health that I think about going back to hockey.] Me: Do you think when I go back to hockey I'll be so rusty and bad... that they'll kick me off the team? Like "you suck!" [Taking a 5 minute walk for the first time in weeks] Kam: No, they miss you. I give them updates about your health. [My stick & gear bag are still in the car ready to go]
b&w comic page that reads: [Other days, sometimes in the same week, I'm researching mobility aids] [Which one would be right for me. If I'm even "allowed" to use one] Reddit page on phone screen that reads: If you're asking, and it will make your life easier, it's probably for you lol"

Me: If i play hockey sometimes & use a rollator or wheelchair other times, will everyone think I'm faking Kam: Maybe, but people are shitty. drink this [Electrolyte beverage]
Thought bubble: If i could play hockey once a week and have to rest all week for the next game... that would be okay.. sounds better than finding a job a disabled person can do [Arrow pointing to thought bubble: Bargaining stage of grief] Thought bubble: My newtype* hockey sense** is atrophying *concept from mobile suit gundam regarding enhanced almost psychic abilities useful in both combat and in human understanding **basically the same thing but for hockey players
Thought bubble with a halftoned image of me playing hockey: I guess it's possible that I never go back to hockey

And now I want to churn out a new game sooooo bad, but gamedev shit takes a gazillion years (especially if you want it to be Actually Good)
Playing the games of other indie devs is so immensely rewarding. Also interacting with & being in community with other devs. Truly enhances life.
I was literally playing SF Route today and repeatedly going "this is so Uchikoshi. Soooo Uchikoshi. π«΅ Uchikoshi-ism." They mentioned metempsychosis and I immediately remembered it from Mira my good friend Mira ZTD

I guess I especially find character songs fascinating because of how they have to come to be.
Like, the original writer isn't making these songs. The anime development team aren't musicians, they just adapt stories to animation. The skills necessary to make a good song aren't built into the medium.
Not only do they want to make a good song, but they have to do the character and the narrative justice. You can express certain things in music that you can't in comic or animation. Sometimes you can capture something new and unique and true.
A good character song takes So much!!!
Because I still want to talk about anime character songs, I'm gonna link some of my favorites over the years.
I think a lot of anime fans never really learned about these, and I'd love to be the one to introduce them.
Holy shit, the Gnosia anime gives me everything I want. They're bringing back the art of character songs

You would think punching in a few lines of vocals at a time would make things easier. And to an extent it does. But also I hate it.
