Nothing prepares you for the shock & trauma of Naz’s story. I started this book at 11pm one night & couldn’t sleep until I finished it.
I’m still shocked by what I read. But this story of her survival & determination to keep going is inspirational.

2016, 2019, 2024. On every occasion, the British people made clear their frustrations and desires for change. On every occasion, the disappointments stacked up when people's ambitions and hope were crushed. [5/]
We have an entire generation of millenials who are worse off than their parents and risk being a lost generation. They've toiled for no gain and been punished for playing the game they were told to.
Newer generations have seen that and said "yeah no thanks, screw your game" [4/]
The basic foundations of life and contentment are increasingly a luxury. It's now harder than ever to have a house to call your own. Harder than ever to start a family. And harder than ever to find and keep a job. [3/]
The UK has a similar problem, and successive govts have ignored it to their peril. Post-2008, people have struggled more and more for less and less gain. Now it's more common to work yourself to the bone just to tread water. [2/]
There's a line in Michelle Obama's book where she reflects on people's exhaustion at the state of things:
"Barack contended with a deep weariness in people, a cynicism bred from a thousand small disappointments over time".
