bringing this project back to life, let's see where it leads
going through my old folder, i think i never released this #threejs particle system that i made for JSConf EU 2019
i forgot to do something interesting with it...
would love to see more than 1 second of that last video 😄
not really? first, it's not night, but eve. and nightmare is cauchemar, difficult to rhyme or turn into something that makes sense as it does in English. in Spanish and Italian they translated the title directly so it doesn't have the meaning of "christmas eve" either
two levels of truchet tiles superposed on an icosphere
the snub dodecahedron is quite good, too. except the pentagonal faces
trying other solids, with varying degrees of "success"
done. by the end, the AI in visual studio was on to me
building a truncated icosahedron by hand. 12 pentagons done, now to the 20 hexagons...
sometimes debugging geometries requires tedious and extreme measures
#GENUARY2025 PROMPTS ARE READY!!
GENUARY is an artificially generated month of time where we build code that makes beautiful things.
It’s happening during the month of January 2025, and everybody is invited!
#generative #genartclub
tests with nested structures
better tiles, still quite a bit to go
ah, that's wonderful, thanks! the idea is that it will be a web page to generate any combination and download it as STL or whatever format makes more sense, so everybody with a 3d printer can get one. i'll keep you posted!
that's the goal! but i don't have a 3d printer :)
ah, i see what you mean! these tiles are meant to be contiguous and solid -at least for now-, so i've removed the "sides". but yes, i would either add the internal walls in-shader, or add a final geometry pass to add a single wall between each tile
there are a few problems related to the tile, because it's a model hand-made in blender, but i think it can be fixed. with a mathematically generated tile, it's all correct
progress, bit by bit
triangularly trippy
i'll have to figure out that equation or there's no way i'm doing the dodecahedron, or any other platonic/archimedean solid
degrees of closeness...
i'm pretty sure there has to be a formula to make this easy 😅
debugging oddities (it will make sense, hopefully)
worth every goddamn last penny
on people commenting, they're just regurgitating some article. i don't they they would be able to say which was the _previous_ most expensive animated series ever
we'll see :) it's hard to fight back the feeling that there are so many possibilties, but also so much that needs to be done first. trying to get back on that horse, from scratch :D
it always comes down to the torus
