do people think culture is this thing, separate from them? something you can opt out of?

This isn't a culture war. This is the only trans congresswoman, ever being bullied through the press and legislation, and having only 1 of hundreds of colleagues stand up for her. They can do more than 1 thing at a time. Defending her will not take so much effort that they can't do their jobs.

The real trap here is that the Republicans have made defending civil rights seem like a frivolous thing and a whole lot of liberals are falling in line. Even if it was a culture war, so what? This would be a war worth fighting. What are we even doing here, people? Get it together.

Every single Tribal Nation has their own history, language, traditions, and even system of governance.

So, I beg you all to be mindful of the language you use. If you want to protect our sovereignty and rights as Native peoples, say it with me. NATIVE IDENTITIES ARE NOT RACIAL.

I still mask when I’m indoors, or in a crowded outside. I’m very lucky to live in an area where I get very little pushback. About 85% of the comments I get are compliments on the mask itself, not about me masking at all.
