A11) I have done RMNP in spring and summer- summer was definitely busier, and less snow! It is a fun way to experience different parks- to see all seasons! #ParkChat
A11) I have done RMNP in spring and summer- summer was definitely busier, and less snow! It is a fun way to experience different parks- to see all seasons! #ParkChat
A10) Some of the “pleasant” snow hiking, where it is nice outside and you’re in snow. Seeing the buds on the trees and the flowers popping up too! #ParkChat
A9) Lots of happy birds! Every park I have been to really! #ParkChat
A8) I love the high altitude wildflowers in RMNP! No photos, unfortunately… #ParkChat
That is amazing- sounds much more fun! #ParkChat
A7) I LOVE spring camping! Have not done any National Park camping, but here is a photo from one of my favorite WI State Parks, Wyalusing SP! #ParkChat
A6) Probably the former, as someone that lives in the tundra 😆 #ParkChat
A5) I have not been, but, I would think Death Valley is a lot more pleasant :) #ParkChat
I saw a lot at RMNP- I would think GSMNP would be a big one too! #ParkChat
A4) I think it can be a good option. It is often the usual big parks that get a heavier influx of people. It sure beats the crowdedness of the beach! #ParkChat
A3) Being very prepared for all the hike may throw at you. Layers, water, sunscreen, snacks, first aid kit etc! #ParkChat
A2) I think spring, and maybe a bit of winter! Bugs and heat are the biggest reasons. It would be fun to do some (safe) winter hiking too! And hot cocoa in a lodge… #ParkChat
A1) RMNP is the only big park I have visited in the Spring (over Spring Break in college). I had a friend that lived out there and it just made sense! I have done other State Parks here in WI and of course some National Scenic Trail hiking! Would enjoy some hotter parks in Spring, too! #ParkChat
Me! Checking in from Wisconsin! #ParkChat
Well said!! #ParkChat
Q11) @samahill.bsky.social what is your favorite park experience that you’ve had? #ParkChat
A10) The awe that is there when one sees a park for the first (or 5th, 10th etc) The expansive wilderness and protection of our most beautiful lands! #ParkChat
A9) I hope they look similar to what we have now (or even more wild!) #ParkChat
A8) A lot of what has been said- climate change, selling off public land, loss of federal funding, and the laissez faire attitude of certain people in the federal government about the parks… #ParkChat
Absolutely- a great use of technology! Saves cost on signage too! #ParkChat
A7) Oh absolutely. Electronic devices have changed how younger people interact with the parks while in the park and before/after visiting. #ParkChat
A6) The easiest one, LNT! Being kind to rangers and park staff. Giving volunteer time (and $ when able!) to help protect the land for future generations #ParkChat
A5) Not exactly what you’re asking, but, trails! Scenic and Recreation both. They tell stories and protect awesome geological features! #ParkChat
A4) Its good from an accessibility side- the parks are for everyone and making sure everyone can experience the parks is great. Some technology can also lead to overcrowding, safety issues, and headaches for park staff, and of course, as you said, can take away from enjoying being outside! #ParkChat
A3) Quite a bit- for some, it is their only experience to hear about the role environmental changes play in their parks and the outdoors. It’s a big task for rangers to make that impact on people to give the background and spread the word #ParkChat
A2) More federal funding :) #ParkChat
A1) Overrun (with people) parks and facilities. Have to find some of the lesser popular spots to truly get away! #ParkChat
Checking in from Wisconsin! #ParkChat
Me! Excited for a fun chat! #ParkChat
I am so sorry to hear about your brother- sending big hugs your way!
