I think a lot of us millennials & older really take it for granted that we were the last of only a couple generations where there was an all-encompassing campaign to encourage literacy. Everyone used to agree upon it. There were commercials with your favorite celebrities just being like, "READ!"

Because yes it is very much about cancer, breast cancer specifically but there is also a lot of broader appeal to disability causing injury/life changing illness. Also actually reading the root of ideas like self care and rest as revolution is essential.

I recently finished Audre Lordeβs Cancer Journals and I must say for such a small book, it packs some of the greatest revelations and substance. But honestly Iβd expect nothing less from her. I wish Iβd read it closer to the beginning of my disability journey bc it made me feel so seen.

Yeah the intro of it is so cool. Iβm about 30% in and I very much appreciate the illustration of resources/income difference and how that impacts things too.

The absolute refusal to connect American history to American current events is one of the weirdest expressions of modern racism.

Helped shape me in ways that significantly influenced my worldview and eventual pivot into social work. This just all sucks so much.

LRP: I have a degree in sociology and reading that legit made me weep. Thatβs justβ¦ so many levels of not ok and students deserve to actually learn the subject in a way thatβs true to its design. It was an intro class that led me to change my major and Iβm so glad I did bc I learned so much and it

The way I envy folks whose taste actually align with so much of the book market in their genre of choice. Like I wouldnβt give up my tastes but damn what it must be like to have so many options.

Thereβs only been one ep so far and Iβm hoping there will be a lot more contribution from the Black Jewish folks esp since at the Seder is a man whose family came over in the 1780s and Henry asks if they were originally Jewish and the man affirms yes and theyβve continued all these years.

There is a Seder as someone has mentioned that the show keeps referencing back to that includes some Black Jewish folks and i think at least one or two Black rabbis but most of the talking so far has been about the separate journeys of white Jewish folks and Black gentiles. As was also pointed out-
