I think a lot of us millennials & older really take it for granted that we were the last of only a couple generations where there was an all-encompassing campaign to encourage literacy. Everyone used to agree upon it. There were commercials with your favorite celebrities just being like, "READ!"

Because yes it is very much about cancer, breast cancer specifically but there is also a lot of broader appeal to disability causing injury/life changing illness. Also actually reading the root of ideas like self care and rest as revolution is essential.
I recently finished Audre Lorde’s Cancer Journals and I must say for such a small book, it packs some of the greatest revelations and substance. But honestly I’d expect nothing less from her. I wish I’d read it closer to the beginning of my disability journey bc it made me feel so seen.
Truly at this point it feels like the safest option.

There’s only been one ep so far and I’m hoping there will be a lot more contribution from the Black Jewish folks esp since at the Seder is a man whose family came over in the 1780s and Henry asks if they were originally Jewish and the man affirms yes and they’ve continued all these years.
There is a Seder as someone has mentioned that the show keeps referencing back to that includes some Black Jewish folks and i think at least one or two Black rabbis but most of the talking so far has been about the separate journeys of white Jewish folks and Black gentiles.
