I have assembled my full HF kit. Determined to get out and do some portable ops this weekend even if it's chilly and cloudy. #HamRadio

For reference, we usually have 2ish learn to curl events a month normally. This year we have been having 3-4 a week and they are all sold out. We expect about 2000 people to have participated in an LTC with us.
What kind of antenna are you running for pota? I am thinking of building the pota performer since stringing up something in a tree isn't always an option here.
I have been eyeing that as the primary candidate for a while now. Seems like the best option I can use right now. Then build a permanent shack once I have a more permanent place I want to settle down in.
Ah! I think I may have stumbled on this a while ago. Definitely adding to the "projects" bookmark.
Sounds pretty dope!
pleased to inform you our plant operators apparently have a livestream cam in each of our sludge cake bins.
It all feels like any hobby where money can get you further into it. But real ones will know that getting a signal out with the cheap jank is the fun part.
Thanks!
Thanks! Now I'm trying to figure out what radio I want to get started with. I'm most likely going to be operating mobile/outside since I am an apartment dweller.
Passed my ham radio general exam yesterday! Excited to spend way too much time figuring out my first HF setup. #HamRadio #AmateurRadio
They were just running an APRS test on 440mhz I think. But it looks like that is ending today.
Heard about this in a shortwave net last night. It was just hearsay though. Cool to see someone captured it.
The go-to for low barrier of entry is going to be picking up an RTL-SDR and looking into the projects there. Depends on what you are interested in.

It is wild that pretty much every other series is having some of the best racing we have seen in years (Other than maybe WEC) and yet the "pinnacle" of motorsport is the most boring product on track at the moment.
Hamvention is coming up. It will be like a buffet!
It would be better than most of the other stuff I hear on the repeaters these days!
Listening to the repeater tonight and hearing an awful lot of politics on the air...
I am going to be that guy and say $site-app01, net01, web01, db01, etc. It seems boring at first until you are trying to remember if a service runs on Marge, Homer, or Bart.
Being facetious. But servers come and go. I tend not to get too attached ๐คฃ
Tbh, nothing is better for my imposter syndrome than watching a different IT team deal with an issue that I think I have pretty much figured out/have seen before.
People of Bluesky, how often do you change your phone wallpaper? I must know.

Always a good time to get your ham license!
When I think of my happy place, this is pretty close to what I imagine.
I love my anytone, but I might need to grab another one in that color!
Looks similar to my HT setup. I am in pretty great coverage from both my local repeaters, inside a 3rd floor apartment helps get a bit more reach. This little Anytone has been a tank and the battery lasts way longer than it has any right to.
That sounds miserable. Suppose I am lucky where I am at that it isn't that bad.
I love my cheap radios, but yeah, it does lower the barrier of entry pretty low.
Part of it is probably how dead the repeater is sometimes and that's probably on me and my group for not being the change we want to see. I am definitely guilty of mostly lurking on the repeaters.
First day of Sysadmin School type stuff. RAID is just waiting to die on you for the lolz.
Locked in for this gold medal hockey game.
Crazy shit happening at xbox rn
