I’d thought we may be able to sunset the RSS feeds on the NZ Legislation website, and replace with an API. Nope! There was a lot we learned from current users, but most compelling for me personally was the value ascribed to anonymous notifications to changes in the law.

Yep... a driving use case! Reading legislation at night to either keep them up... or put them to sleep ;-)
I think there are some all-of-government arrangements, but agencies still (currently) have choice over what to adopt.

There's a very strong ethos around open access, and I'm very clear that the same principles need to apply for data services. Those are some good points we'll need to work through.

Yep, you're not wrong... there are some bad bots involved, but yeah the survey feedback should help weigh all that up
