I found the fumes occasionally unpleasant, but it was just a waft now and then. And I was leaning over close. I do not even know what an extractor is. I just used a multi tool that also can be used for engraving and woodworking.

I planned to share my report on the body cam footage early next week when I learned that a DC news station had obtained some of the footage as a result of my lawsuit and they were going to scoop me. After working on this for a year, I couldn't let that happen. Published 2 mins before they aired :)

But if the glue still won't take, I'll take apart the whole thing, clean all the lubricant out, try the glue, and then if it holds, I will add new lubricant.

These are the adventures you have when you spend $3 on a $40 item that was a store return. But I'm learning so much!

The pins each have a little plastic column they fit into, but nothing secures them. The pin doesn't turn, just the gear on it, so I've been trying to glue the pin into the column, but so far it the glue doesn't hold. I think the lubricant for the gears may be interfering. Letting it cure longer...

UPDATE ON MY ADVENTURES WITH SOLDERING AND OTHER REPAIR: All my soldering was successful. I figured out that the problem with the grinder is that the gears come lose. They're on little pins that fit in the housing, but the turning of the gears is pulling one pin out, & the gear goes off-kilter.

Cannot tell you how depressing it is to read that people are simply refusing to read nonfiction after you’ve worked really hard to write a nonfiction book you believe in, in case anyone is wondering why I’m posting so much about my book which comes out in a few weeks #BookSky

I did something new in my writing-intensive Paleoecology capstone this year: I'm making them read books. I gave them a list of books to choose from, and they turn in reflections on the material and also the writing.

It has been a joy to watch these students discover a love of reading nonfiction.

Once again, Joe Rogan manages to astonish with his steadfast devotion to being the most objectionable person to come out of a sitcom cast that also included Andy Dick.

Saw the "OMG why are 40 & 50 year old people even ON social media?" post & my first thought was, "What do you think *should* happen, kid? Should we all just do a Logan's Run?" & then I realized this child has never once in their life heard of Logan's Run & I turned to dust & my ghost is typing this.

For some reason the gears turn fine when the case is off the motor and then stick once the case is on. But I'll let the solder cool and chill for tonight, and then I'll attack that tomorrow.

06.03.2026 04:44 πŸ‘ 7 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 3 πŸ“Œ 0

OMG I did it. I soldered the wires to the prong. And it worked. Unfortunately, the motor has other problems. (It was while trying to fix those problems that the wires came undone. I'd hoped that it was a prior looseness that was messing with the motor. Alas. But at least the wires are secure.

It's only an echo chamber if it's from the Leftist region. If it's from Rightlandia it's just sparkling fascist camaraderie.

Okay, NOW it's soldered. Maybe. It looks terrible, but I'm pretty sure it's soldered. And I have, I think, successfully tinned my wires, which I didn't even know was a thing until 20 minutes ago. And I've done it all with a cat on my lap. (Not recommended, but hard to discourage.)

WHOOPS I did not actually successfully solder. It came apart. Oh well. That's what the practice is for!

I have no where else to announce this and I'm super proud of it: I have just successfully soldered for the first time. It was just my practice piece so that I knew I could competently do my real repair practice, but I fixed a necklace that had been broken forever, so that's doubly neat.

This would be an annoying bug no matter what the ad, but I worked as a tour guide at Universal. I worked as a writer on the lot for four years. I walked for five months on strike at a Universal gate. I live ten minutes away. I really do not need to be made aware of Universal.

I am fine with ad-supported content but if framed doesn't get rid of this whole-page Universal Studios ad that keeps opening without being clicked & obscuring the gameplay & not closing unless I refresh, I am going to lose my mind. (Or just stop playing their games.)

Please repost if any of your followers might be able to connect me with a smallish, non-official dog rescue type group in the Los Angeles area. Los Angeles proper, the actual city. Looking for folks who might be willing to approach a family with neglected dogs and negotiate purchase/rehoming/etc.

I do not give a flying fuck that Markwayne Mullin isn't a college graduate. I care that he *is* Markwayne Mullin.

My wife told me that people not consuming a consistent diet of literature is why they struggle with empathy & putting themselves in the shoes of others & now I see it in everything.

Nothing surprising about this guy beating his chest & proudly proclaiming that he doesn’t read though.

No shit man.

GLP-1 drugs offer an incredible opportunity for addiction treatment. These drugs pull some kind of a whammy on our brain's reward circuits like nothing else. We would never even have them without two curious scientists pulling at a weird thread in their research:

US Senators ARE NOT police. They do not have qualified immunity. They have zero authority to assault a protesting US Marine Corps Veteran. He broke the vets hand in a door, you can hear the bones crack. Call your Senators. 202-224-3121
