Walked thru a new (to me) prairie dog colony this morning in Cherry Creek State Park. Love listening to their chirps & barks & watching them interact. #prairiedogs

I wonder if this dainty sulphur will be my last #butterfly sighting of 2025. It was 62F today but a winter storm is supposed to blow in with snow tonight. Seen at Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge today.

It was a warm, beautiful almost-autumn day in Colorado today.

Opinion: It’s time to speak up for Alaska’s national wildlife refuges Funding cuts, begun by DOGE and now deepened in proposed budgets, are putting wildlife and public lands at risk and harming both Alaska’s environment and economy.

A post about the National Wildlife Refuge System. This opinion piece gives a solid glimpse into life in FWS right now. It is written by a Friends group because our employees are not allowed to say it.

Found my first odes of the season today at Rocky Mountain Arsenal Nat'l #Wildlife Refuge. Several common green darners & forktail #damselfly. The darners were in constant motion, so this is my best action shot. They were already mating - saw a pair flying tandem.
