An interesting detail from @financialtimes.com . I was baffled by some strange movements of the Roscosmos jet into Rwanda Feb 21, and wondered if there was a pending announcement about a treaty with the new Rwanda Space Agency. Seems it was just a taxi for hire?
My broadcast colleagues may like to know that Alice Everett was one of the founders (a Fellow) of @rtsmedia.bsky.social . She worked with John Logie Baird, and Mary BrΓΌck believed Everett may well have been present in Soho on that historic day 100 years ago when Baird demonstrated television.

The Dunsink astronomer - and a tireless chronicler of Irish women in science - Mary BrΓΌck wrote an extended profile of Annie Maunder (and another Irish woman, Alice Everett) for the Irish Astronomical Journal. Link in ALT. @diasdunsink.bsky.social
You ask: why is Bluesky the best social platform? This is why.
A cameo role tonight for the Artemis astronauts (at the speech, not the protest rally!). I really hope Jeremy Hansen won't be embarassed by any crude mentions of Canada π
A rare vagrant spotted in the skies over Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, this afternoon. Blown off-course by a particularly strong so'easter? π @geolsurvie.bsky.social @birdwatchireland.bsky.social

JBS Europe has operations across Ireland, North and South. Its Chairman is Irishman Jerry O'Callaghan.
The V-3 camera is even better! It transitioned from a fountain to more explosive a couple of hours ago when I think the throat of the vent started to collapse. Shades of Io and Venus. Whatever we think, we are not Masters of this Universe π
Insane stuff, man! It transitioned from a fountain to more explosive a couple of hours ago when I think the throat of the vent started to collapse. Shades of Io and Venus. Whatever we think, we are not Masters of this Universe π
@soph-astro.esa.int has posted in the other place, but not in this quiet place. So I am sharing it because it is important on many levels. (She appears to be on the beach right beside the Astronauts' beloved Beach House, next to LC-40)
Claudie HaignerΓ© est une figure emblΓ©matique de la promotion des femmes dans les STIM (STEM in Ireland). Brava !
"The Irish Rocket". My gob has been well and truly smacked! TIL that Round Towers HAD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH ESCAPING THE VIKINGS π³. Most weren't even built at the time of the Battle of Clontarf.
He needs to publish! Then, LRO would probably task it.

Elon Musk's latest errant rocket stage will pass directly over Dublin TWICE on Thursday. Overall, it crosses Ireland every few days (Munster and Connaught on Saturday and on Feb 11). It will NOT crash that soon. The last out-of-control rocket missed Dublin by seconds, landing in Poland @esa.int
Keep me posted π
The Irish Gov has 150 followers on this site. No wonder people inhabit the M"sk world @gov.ie
@esa.int All of European Space Situational Awareness (SSA) is on the other site. So much for European independence!
Where? Last one hit Poland, but missed Dublin by seconds?
Spectacular! But "KGB spy satellite spontaneously explodes"? Colour me sceptical π€¨ That sucker was cooking-off for several minutes after the initial event.

Clark finds comfort in a thought: during all the heartbreak, "the academic heir to Carrington was already quietly at work, collecting a mountain of his own sunspot data that he would eventually sculpt into a scientific edifice that no one could demolish"
"His heir was Edward Walter Maunder"

Gazing today for the first time into this young man's eyes, it is impossible to fathom the tragedies that were to engulf his final years.
