A peek into Mesen's PPU viewer, specifically the Nametable Viewer, depicting a Pac-Man maze, with the maze being visible on the left side, and invisible on the right side. The camera is currently set to display the invisible area.
I like to call Gauntlet's 4 nametable approach "The Gauntlet Way". I used The Gauntlet Way for invisible mazes in a our Tengen Pac-Man ROM hack where the maze turns invisible in plus mode. It's actually just moving the camera to the invisi-area, utilizing all 4 screens.
Step aside Mega Man 2's Leaf Shield, Super Mario World got its own Throw Block flavored shield!
