From someone who always had gender norms forced on them, it took *years* for me to learn to live in a way I enjoy.

What people think doesn’t matter. You are allowed to do things that make you happy. Wear the clothes! Pursue that hobby! Change your hair! It’s YOUR life. Live it the way you want to 💜

Kids are observant. They see that you don’t like when they pick up a truck, but you’re so excited when they play with a doll. They pick up on your language. They learn that they can’t ask for that pair of shoes they really wanted.

They edit themselves for their parents. It’s heartbreaking.

Today I watched as a mom took shoes away from her young son, shoes that he *liked*, because they were “girly”. She pulled him away, telling him they would find some “manly shoes”.

Crying, he deserves all the treats 😭
