yes as much as i hate to admit it and try to run away to other makes, i am still true hondabro 4lyfe. i hope the all the civics revving at 3AM will create the biggest early morning cacophony once the new Integra (and the Acura brand itself) finally successfully enters the Japanese market.
anyway it's kinda interesting that they're planing to bring the Integra Type S without swapping the wheel to the right side. then again it's kind of a throwback 90s Honda move there; the US-made EJ1 Civic Coupe was also officially sold in Japan in LHD config.
... though, in addition to RHD lol
it's too bad Acura never got to follow in Lexus' footsteps when THEY just barely successfully entered the Japanese market around Lehman Bros' meltdown. i bet an Acura exec is rn deep down screaming in agony "we could've brought the TLX Type S to Japan!!! Our NC1 NSX could've had our badges!!! gaaah"
ngl this news came outta left field for me. though i guess it explains why I got to sit in an Integra Type S in Honda's Tokyo Aoyama building a few years ago
oh yeah here we go on the other site, gawd this was from 4 years ago haha x.com/chibitech/st...
hmm Mt Akagi sounds tempting tbh… last time i drove up there via Gunma route 16 (Ougo Akagisen), which was one helluva workout for the S660 haha.
Moreso I only did it in the middle of the night, and never actually saw daylight the entire time. needless to say I’d like to see the views for once, lol
yes this implies that i don’t wanna attack mt fuji this time around; i already did that twice the last outing.
otoh i would be most open to any suggestion within the boso peninsula of chiba. that’s still largely untraveled for me
need a break from it all. where shall my next touge run be this weekend? a radius from tokyo that’s equivalent to the distance between here and mt fuji would be nice.
it's too bad that i had to get rid of it ungracefully at that moment, because right after the "90s import tuner classics" boom amongst younger gearheads started to finally take off.
In fact my nephew is now a mechanic HELLA into that scene. I would've given him my car had he'd been old enough then.
But as a last grace, we also knew tuner friends who really wanted certain parts from my car (read: the H23A for an engine swap, alongside other bits & pieces). So I made the decision to have them part out items they wanted for any extra $$$ i could get, and junked the frame once all was said & done.
As you can imagine, being the main executor of an almost worthless asset ~5000 miles across the ocean that none of my siblings wanted and was practically unsellable unless I shoveled money into it was not going to work out for any of us. Especially since I already had my own shit to deal with here.
My brother did try to sell it for me though. But thanks to CARB laws that we only found out of as I was about to sell it to a friend, we couldn't legally transfer the title unless its emissions problems were fixed. Aka 💸.
This during the time the resale value of my year's prelude was at its lowest😩
The car was still in my name & technically driveable. But I had to force myself to get rid of it a year after my dad passed away, as all my siblings already had their own cars, and my brother just wanted this biohazard finally outta the driveway after sitting stagnant & molding up from water ingress
anyways i’m glad to talk to 4th gen lude owners (current or former), i loved that car’s quirkiness so much — even if the H23A on mine burned oil constantly lol
oh no😢
yeah i used to drive a ‘92 Si since the mid-90s for ~15 years until i moved to japan.
gave it to dad afterwards and it deteriorated really fast after he accidentally smashed it onto the front of his house… after he passed away it sat outside & grew interior mold.
eventually it got parted out🥲
also from this to the 3000gt and diamante, mitsubishi really popped off on making the galant platform all modular… i’m only now discovering all the other JDM-only variations they made in the 90s
4th gen prelude mention🤟🥹
i found a galant eterna in akihabara. first time i saw one.
i never knew the galant once went for that 2nd gen integra cosplay
achievement unlocked: pop-clutch started a car in reverse gear
i didn’t even apply the accel pedal, lol what is going on
don't talk to me or my son ever again 🤬🥺
i've been thinking a lot about the ridiculously-priced-for-what-you-get latest gen honda prelude, and can only conclude that honda intentionally released this just to give the convenient excuse of progressively upping the MSRP on all their other "lesser" models. i guess the inverse of a loss leader.
my bf's from texas and he commented the same thing about that star😂
i totally get what you’re saying there, that’s honestly a great way to put it
i should mention that it has the same exact american-style siren device that chirps in streaks, and has incognito blue strobing lights. i’m guessing the latter is something only owners in japan can do in their pursuit of US police vehicle cosplay
also
the radio was blaring a 30-second loop of recorded police scanner btw lol
texans: i want your comment
today’s ita
it does come in a CVT too! it doesn't rev as high as the 6MT but it should still be a blast to take around the touge!
(though yes, i think nearly all the rentable S660s seem to be only the manual versions😬)
hahaha holy shit, of all the people to finally get their hands on this car
as a fellow bay area AzN i sooooo hella approve
