In my humble opinion, it is absolutely necessary for both teachers and students to acquire these skills if we wish to optimize our personal, professional, and global potential as thriving individuals and communities.
"For me, there's a sort of comfort in this idea of Tech-scendentalism."

"In the pond, the fish donβt swim β they float. Thatβs what it feels like when we ask students to engage with curated articles that are months old..." #EduSky #EdTech #AiEDU #AIinEducation
"How we respond to AI and the reckoning it's having on education could either rid us of this joke, or make it worse. All of this is at the core of today's episode." #EduSky #EdTech #AiEDU #AIinEducation
Tried a cold opening for this episode, inspired by @kevinroose.com and @caseynewton.bsky.social with their show Hard Fork. If youβre thinking my chatbot host Chris sounds just like Kevin, Iβm thinking the same thing! #podcast #podcastlife #EdTech

This was too useful to ignore, but not quite presentable for teachers. So, I made it such. Doing so was a reminder at how important it is to think with a cross-AI platform mindset. More details in the disclaimer.

Talking the Read, EpisodeΒ 2
Claude's Ode to the Socratic Seminar Many of us can probably recall our first ah-ha moment with AI--when we realized we could no longer view this as some ruinous technology in our field of education. Instead, we realized, despite our concerns (which are real concerns),β¦
"Public education is especially worth supporting now... Itβs where people with different values and beliefs rub shoulders and learn to live together as productive, contributing, citizens. Itβs a bedrock of democracy thatβs worth securing." #EduSky
Love this idea. Plenty of room to get creative with these tools!
I did some experimenting with @elevenlabs.io to see how it might be useful in the classroom. I ended up with a few ideas and a podcast.

Talking the Read
Using AI to Differentiate Reading (and Writing) Experiences As a high school English teacher, I'm always open to new and fresh ways to engage my students with reading material. While I'm well aware of the concerns surrounding how students use AI to essentially bypass allβ¦
Encouraging and expecting teachers to cover these topics also means stakeholders should expect that teachers have the media literacy skills to navigate these issues with students in ways that model the same diplomacy we wish to see outside of our classrooms.
βAnd yet, as rapidly as these technologies have grown, or perhaps because of it, the ethical concerns have not diminished.β
βAIβs role as a forcing function to spark efforts to make learning more valuable to students may be the most impactful (even if unintended) outcomes of AI in education.β

Letβs keep this in mind as we also rethink (or should be rethinking) what it means to be media literate and how we teach this in our classrooms. Itβs so much more than just fact checking. #edusky #medialiteracy
βThe real takeaway should be this: give teachers the time, space, and support to engage with their own expectationsβnot through checklists, but through dialogue, reflection, and collaboration.β
"Perhaps we should, and must view AI as just an improved tool to be used in an evolving process. The reality for educators, however, is that we are still operating within a product-centered culture." #EduSky #TeachingInspiration #EducatorLife #EduCoach #EduSkyAI #EdTech #AIinEducation
The Walkman Effect
The Mission of Braving Education I don't remember how old I was exactly when I got my first Walkman, but I remember my sudden amazement to the fact that I could slide a cassette tape into a device and play and replay (over and over again) that one hit song I first heard on theβ¦
I agree. Genuinely curious for more details.
