Okay, so the performances of the National Anthem and God Bless America were terrific. But, damn, I could do without face-lift Tom Cruise.

Thanks!
Cmon GOP leaders, listen to Oberst:
"It takes a lot of gall to try to please
These dehumanizing entities
I befriended all my enemies
They had my back against the wall
Oh, a coward is what a coward does
I suppose maybe I always was
But I'm sick of it, I've had enough
And now I'm ready for the war."
I made this over the weekend and it was terrific...and vegan! cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1024...
Hey @jay.bsky.team, how about producing a Facebook alternative? Weβd love you for it! :)
Now that Zuckerberg has decided to go the way of Musk/X, does anyone know of any decent alternative to Facebook? I really like the idea of the platform -- it's a great way to interact with old and new friends, have good conversations, share photos, etc.
This series of interviews with an articulate, energetic eight-year-old living in Gaza is wonderful. The contrast between what this poor girl is living through and her otherwise normal interests and concerns for a child her age is remarkable.
We could make it happen!
Amen! But dang that punter!
In his latest podcast, Ezra Klein suggested that Trump made reasonable choices for departments he doesn't really care about (e.g., State) but has chosen obviously unqualified people for Justice, Intelligence, and Defense those whose only selling point is that they will do whatever he wants.
This post showed up because apparently my friends follow you. I still don't know who you are, but I'll follow you for yoru sense of humor.. :)
While I'm happy that Bluesky is having such success, I confess to wondering if we've not created a liberal/progressive bubble. A serious problem with our current climate is that we tend to only hear voices that reinforce our own views. What do you think? Is Bluesky broader than I'm thinking?
Too close for comfort, for sure!
My wife and I have lived in NWA since I took my faculty position at UA in '89, and we love the place. Love Oregon too, but couldn't take living in all the dark clouds/rain of the Willamette Valley.
As a 35 year Arkansas resident who grew up in Portland and is an Oregon alum, go Ducks!
I hear you. I'm not the fan of the Isbell qua human I once was (he seems awfully full of himself), but I still think *Weathervanes* and the new live album are wonderful.
I don't get it either. I mean, one might think that, on balance, one shouldn't do it unless your child is in immediate mortal danger. But it is beyond me that so many Christians can have zero empathy with parents who put their children's interests above USA immigration laws.
Not sure how many of y'all Blue Sky friends are interested in Americana music. But if you are and you haven't listened to Jason Isbell's Live at the Ryman, Vol 2, you might oughta correct that. It's one of the best live albums I've ever heard.
