Two things can be true:
1) The President has legal authority over the D.C. police and the D.C. National Guard that he doesn't have *anywhere else* in the country; &
2) Even if this doesn't set a legal precedent, it sets an ominous *political* precedent for pretextually overriding local government.
The only place in DC where crime is up is the White House.
So Trumpโs big plan is to send in the National Guard to โcrack down on violent crimeโ in D.C.? Funny, I donโt remember him deploying them when actual violent criminals were smashing windows and beating police officers on January 6โฆoh right, those were his supporters.
