It was indeed great! Thanks for inviting me!

Quantum metrology in the finite-sample regime
journals.aps.org/prxquantum/a...
We propose an operational framework of #quantummetrology in the practically meaningful regime of a few measurement samples, introducing probably approximately correct (#PAC) metrology.

Raymond Laflamme 1960-2025. A great scientist, renowned for his pioneering contributions to quantum error correction. A great leader, founding director of the Institute for Quantum Computing. A great colleague and teacher whose legacy continues to inspire us.

They produced a short video on quantum computing featuring an interview with yours truly and the great Fernando Brandão! Thanks to the Estadão team for the opportunity, and to all the colleagues and mentors who make this research adventure possible. 2/3
This Sunday I had the honor of being profiled as one of the “Brazilians to watch” by ESTADÃO (Estadão), one of the major newspapers in my home country. I shared a bit about my journey so far as a researcher and how I see the field of quantum computing progressing in the coming years.1/3
The larger-than-life Quantum Duel between Matthias Christandl and Gil Kalai will take place on Tuesday at 6:00 PM (CEST) in Prague.

I love catching up on my “to read” list of papers on planes. And today found time to read some recent work on randomized phase estimation arxiv.org/abs/2503.05647 from Gunther et al

Looking forward to this conference in Madrid! Register now!
Had a great time this week in Cambridge!
The research group of Prof. Christoph Hirche @christophhirche.bsky.social at the University of Hannover (Germany) is looking for a motivated PhD student.

If you are going to QIP this year, make sure to attend all the tutorials! The line-up of speakers looks fantastic! And I know that Cambyse is cooking something great for his tutorial, this will be a unique opportunity to learn about the exciting field of quantum Gibbs sampling!
Thanks Ernesto!
Check out Armando’s summary of our work on simulating noisy circuits under non-unital noise. Thanks for this nice collaboration and congrats to Victor for his first paper!
Provocative points about this once after a talk of mine indicating he disagrees, but we never got to fully discussing it! (I hope I am not misrepresenting his views) 3/3
That it will mostly be useless for combinatorial optimization applications, as one typically is interested not in expectation values (the usual output of EM), but assignments. What do you think of this “myth”? And where would you place the meter? I recall @zoltanzimboras.bsky.social making some 2/3
Very interesting! This is a topic close to my heart, so I will read it in detail and certainly have a few more questions after that. But here is a first one: I generally agree that error mitigation will be useful in some relevant regimes (I am now even working on an EM paper :)). But I still feel1/3
Many Brazilian restaurants offer so-called “trivial dishes” on their menus. But you have to be careful when ordering them: the cooking is often left as exercise to the patron.
Indeed! Let me maybe add to Alvaro’s comment that you can efficiently implement this adiabatic algorithm and we show that the preparations is efficient for sufficiently local, high temperature states!
Submissions for QCTiP 2025 are now open.

For those that, like me, were quite intrigued about the history of Okinawa after attending TQC this year, and also speak German, I have some good news! A fantastic podcast offering insightful stories about the Ryukyu empire came out last week: podcasts.apple.com/de/podcast/g...
please do!
